This is the carbuerated 4 cylinder, standard 4sp, not the fuel injected.

I have the same symptoms as this guy, once it warms up it stumbles as i accelerate:

Does the non-fuel injected engine have this TPS and AFM mentioned in the other thread?

Air filter is clean and new. Spark plugs are new.

Maybe it's the fuel filter? Fuel pump?

sorry about such newb questions but I don't have a manual and can't find online any description of how to change the fuel filter or test the fuel pump.

my truck is at 164,600 miles...which is the interval to change the timing chain no? would this behaviour indicate a timing chain issue?

any help is much appreciated.

I'm having the same kinda problems you are but with a 22re, not a 22r. I believe the fuel filter on yours is a quick, cheap fix. I think it's located by the fuel tank. Mine is definitely harder to replace. Go ahead and buy a Haynes or Chiltons manual--they're not that expensive and it'll save you money in the long run if you do your own work.

If it's not the fuel filter, maybe check the timing on the truck. I don't think you would need to change the timing chain if it's not making noise or not showing wear.

definatly check fuel filter and if that doesnt do it check the carb see if the needle valve needs to be ajusted and wot not...

p.s. why do you have a 22r in an 88 truck?
