Well, after one last camping trip, the tranny on my '88 FJ62 died last Sunday. I've decided to part with it, as it needs to belong to somebody with more passion and skill (and time and tools) than I have. It is bone stock, Metallic Grey and very clean. I bought it in (and drove it back from) South Carolina in 2005 where it had spent most of its life. It has nearly 200k miles on it but the rust is only just beginning to appear in the usual areas. It is currently in Rochester, MN at the Toyota dealer there. They can put a used tranny in for $3k, so I'm wanting to know if A: Anyone wants it as is or B: Anyone would be interested in it with the replaced tranny. I love the rig, and I can't bear to let it die a slow death, so if anyone is interested I have tons of photos and receipts for all work done since I've owned it. Shoot me an offer and we'll talk. Thanks for looking!

Sorry - should've put a price up. I'd let it go for $4k, as is, but I'm open to offers.

Alright, I just sharpened my pencil and had a beer. $2500 now seems reasonable.

I'm in Minneapolis, but the truck is in Rochester, MN at the Toyota dealer.

Still? <---- this is a link

To a 1988 62 series with 25K less miles, for less than 2500us, and I could drive it home.

:meh:

Shoot me a PM when you want to sell this truck for a far more reasonable price....

New price...

Well, I'm now thinking the first $1500 gets it, as is and where is.

MPLS,

Would you be willing to ship it (or make a shipping arrangement: to Utah) if I paid for shipping?

Also, do you happen to have any pics of the undercarriage, as well as the rust spots/paint imperfections?

THANKS!

I don't think you want to know what I would do with it.:D
I was just toying with the idea of shipping my 80 and have the powerplant/tranny swapped into the rig.

But that would be a little pricey since I wouldn't be able to do any of the work myself, not to mention that the rig would have to be shipped to Utah.

I guess there's always a chance that the rig might have been sold already, but if it hasn't been, maybe you can put an end to your 60's saga. :D

$1500 for a clean rig is a good deal, especially if you're just doing the engine or tranny swap.

So, FWIW, you have my blessing, but I don't want to hear you complain if this turns out to be yet another chapter in your on-going saga. :hillbilly:

Mot ;)

Gonna Fix and Keep It

Thanks for you interest all, but I'm gonna fix and keep my rig. I did post in the tech section asking for opinions on doing the front axle seals, so if you've got any tips, they would be appreciated!
