I’ve finally upgraded to an 81, so the 61 is up for sale. It breaks my heart, but must be done in the interests of finances :(

1987 HJ61
-408,000km
-5 speed

-Imported by G&S Cruisers in May of 2003 (with 208,000k)
-4" Terra lift (take-off from a JDM).
-Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks all the way around
-Factory heated seats!
-285/75R16 Goodyear Duratracs (On 16” Unique rims w 3.75" backspacing)
-PTO winch with upgraded (70 series) shear pin
-Replaced the factory and altimeter with ISSpro pyro and boost gauges
-Custom front driveshaft from High-Angle Driveline
-24/12V Solar inverter
-Rear heater
-A/C works great and has never leaked.
-12V Trailer wiring (4 prong)
-Old Man Emu steering stabilizer
-Consistently gets 25MPG+,
- 55/100W 24V H4 headlights. On Hi-beam, this cruiser throws out an INSANE amount of light
-Swaybar disconnects on the front
-OOP inspection done in Alberta in 2003 and again in BC in 2005.
-Tonnes of extra parts, fluids, etc

The bad:
-Some pinstriping by mother nature. Some minor dents and markings from light to medium-duty off-roading.
-The paint on the roof and hood is faded (came from Japan that way). I've hauled a dinghy on the roof so its rubbed to the primer in a few spots.
-Some surface rust starting to appear from 7 years of exposure to the Canadian elements
-Could use new rotors (warped when I had to brake for a moose)
-Slight pull to the left which I’m pretty sure is the tires because it pulled to the right before I rotated
-Has sunrooof but doesn’t open/close

-Maintenance history:
-Starter Rebuilt (2004)
-New Rear wheel bearings (2005)
-New widnshielf (2005)

-Springs re-arched and extra leaves added to the front (2008).
-Replaced e-brake cable (2008).
-New Factory Toyota Radiator (2009)
-Tie road ends all replaced (2009)
-New muffler and exhaust (2009)
-New Group 27 Batteries (2010)
-Oil changes every 5000k with Dino 15W40 suring the summer and Esso XD-3 0W40 in the winter. Toyota or Fleetguard filters always used.
-Howes fuel additive used since the truck came off the boat.
-The above is only major stuff I’ve done. I have a 1" thick folder of stuff I've done over the last 8 years to this vehicle. Don't let the mileage scare you. the 12H-T is renowned for being one of the best motors Toyota made. I’ve run Howes since new and still get wicked fuel milage. The motor doesn't burn any oil and the dipstick stays clear up to 2000k. I've set the valves a few time but other than that, it's been perfect. But don’t trust, me, ask the opinion of members here on the 12-HT

I don't have any idea as to where to price this thing so I'll start at $8500.

That long ago? Wow. You've done some great road tripping in that thing. I recall two things after we received it:

1) I lay underneath that truck looking at the undercarriage and the lack of rust just shaking my head.

2) I did a service, then road tested to Kamloops and back, and checked the oil level...I did a double take and redipped the stick. I had to hold it at the right angle to see the oil...as it was still that clean.

It had obviously been maintained in Japan, and you have continued this.

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the kind words Greg. The Cruiser has served me really well. 3 trips to California, countless trips across Alberta and BC. I've owned it far longer than any other vehicle I've owned and its going to be really hard to see it go. It's still got a lot of life in it. I''m confident the motor will make it to double the K it's got now. I'd love to see someone pick it up as an expedition rig.

Sold! Enjoy the new wheels, Huisson!
