A little history.
I bought this FJ in Roseville, CA. I lived in Folsom for 4 yrs (work). I am the third owner. 110K miles, no rust or accidents. The PO had a carburetor fire while visiting family in NM. Husband towed back to Sacramento and it sat in their yard for 10 years! She wanted to have the repairs made and keep driving, but never could afford dealership pricing.
I planned to repair the emmision hoses, replace carb, etc., at an estimated cost of $2k (parts from Specter). I realized I might spend all that money and still fail CA emissions testing, so I decided to go with an LT1/700R4 from a state (donor) vehicle (9C1 optioned) , bought at auction. When gas went to nearly $6/gal in NorCal, I changed my mind to a diesel and planned to run homemade bio-diesel. I wanted a mechanical, but could not locate, so I bought a '99 C3500 dually with a 6.5 Turbo/4L80E drive train. I then purchased the AA adapter (50-1701) and started removing the C3500 drive train and mated it to the adapter and transfer case, installed it with homemade fabbed engine mounts and transmission cross member.
I moved back to TN in April '09 and for personal reasons decided to abandon the conversion. I have sold the 6.5 engine and transmission, so the FJ is complete with the exception of a drive train.
Here is a link to the meticulous restoration process:

The frame-up process started with 4 coats of epoxy sealer inside the frame rails, the under chassis, completely stripped interior and exterior. It then received;4 coats of epoxy primer, 4 coats of base coat and 6 coats of high-solids clear (Southern Polyurethanes). It has over 300 lbs of sound-proofing (1/8" rubber, foil and 3/8" closed cell foam) inside doors, quarter panels, floor and roof, Old Man Emu complete suspension (Heavy). Completely Blacked-Out with sandblasted/epoxy/base/clear door handles. Rubber Windshield Lock-Strip (in the place of the OEM chrome) in side and rear windshields.
This is just some of the resto mods performed on this awesome FJ canvas. You can finish with your choice of drive train and have a FJ designed to last the next 30 years with no concern of rust!!!
You can reach me at: 916 627 9277 (Alan). The FJ is now in middle TN. Clear/Clean title in hand.
I am asking $4000 OBO

Hello malphus,
Thanks for the compliment. It has been an enjoyable project, but all good things must come to an end. I would like to get most of the equipment cost back. I know I can't get all the hours of labor invested, but somewhere in the neighborhood of 10K would be seriously considered.
I forgot to mention the complete new upholstery from SOR including seat cushions. The sound-proofing was $600 for materials alone. It took 2 weeks to painstakingly install inside the doors. Many cuts on the backside of hands to achieve this. It has none of the "Old" smell from sisal that Cruisers this age normally have, because everything inside is NEW!
You are welcome to look at it (I noticed you are in Nashville) and make an offer, I will not be offended. It is worth what it will sell for, not what I think it is worth.
Thanks,
Alan Hicks

Hello Harold,
I know I sent these pics to your email, but I thought I would post this updated photo album for anyone who may be reading this thread.
Here are some current pics with 6.5 engine/4L80E transmission and transfer case removed.
