Went and looked at it a couple of weeks ago. Wouldn't start as there is something draining the batteries, he didn't know it wouldn't start. Stinks of rat pee. Major rust hole and lots of bubbled rust under paint. Has been repaired before as the rust hole has bondo around it that is also coming off. Popped a couple of big rust flakes off the frame. Aftermarket front seat mounted on a piece of aluminum bar, not properly bolted in. He does have the original seats with it. Rear pass side door hinge pin rusted through. He stated it had been parked for two years in a woodshed. Not much need to go on and on. About a $3000 parts truck to be perfectly honest.

Looks WAY better in the pics than in person.

Really a shame Toyota didn't import the 70 series to th US. Only ones I've seen came from Canada and besides the body the frames are rusted. Here in the southwest we have cruiser twenty-five years older and still rust free. I do like the 70 series but now that they are old enough to get them into the US easily as a whole they seem to be rust buckets.:frown:

It has a lot to do with what they did or didn't do to prevent the rust in the first place. Most people didn't undercoat them or go in for routine rust prevention. A few did and still have nice virtually rust free LC's up here. There are a couple running around the Island that fall into that category. Most, however, started rusting and it got beyond being able to be stopped long before most realized what great vehicles these were.
