Hi MUD,
The time has come to sell one of my beloved Toyotas...Its a near stock 4runner 4x4, it hasn't been lifted, cut up, rolled, smashed like some of the other 1st gens out there. Has been used to explore dirt roads like it was designed for but other than that its a cool example of a near stock 1987 4runner. I am the 4th owner and the other prior owners took excellent care of this rig and it sure shows well. Has the typical drivers seat wear as to be expected for a 29 year old rig. A few dings here and there but the paint and chrome still shine. Its is the SR5 package so it has factory tachometer, front and rear roll gauges and altimeter. I have removed the old Toyota Auto hubs and replaced with rebuilt Asin manual hubs that work flawless, all new OEM Toyota gaskets and o-rings used to install the hubs. I also replaced the old dim factory headlights with new Vision-X glass lens housings and upgraded H4 style 55w bulbs; now it has a nice clean light that is useable. I have the paperwork that was done by prior owner; including a catalytic converter, starter, alternator, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, rear engine oil seal and oil pan was dropped, cleaned and resealed as well. Runs well and passed smog last April with flying colors. I have replaced the rear differential oil and transfer case oil as well with fresh fluid and the old oil looked to be in good condition. Driveshafts and suspension was greased recently as well. 22re engine runs strong and hasn't ever let me down.
Front stock skid plate and gas tank skid are not dented and they are original as well. I don't have the factory hard top is the only big bummer, It was replaced by the prior owner with a nice SofTopper Safari style cover. Works great and allows for shade but still lets loads of fresh air in when the windows are up. No holes were drilled to install the soft top as it used the factory hardtop holes. One small rust spot under the paint on the drivers side fender started, its about 2.5" long by 1/2" wide I just haven't had a chance to fix it. Also the temp gauge is fluttery sometimes, I believe it is something that be easily fixed by soldering the copper windings on the back of the gauge, just haven't had time to fix that either. Has a Sony Bluetooth radio/MP3/Aux jack head unit with upgraded speakers throughout, sounds good for an ol Toyota. Tires are 31x10.5 Kumho All-Terrains with approx.10,000 miles on
them, plenty of life left in them. Rear springs are a bit saggy as to be expected. Prior owner had done the Zuk mod and I didn't like how it rode so I removed the extra springs, only thing that was cut out for those was part of the factory bumpstop bracket. Would make an awesome crawler or leave it stock and take it camping, Only reason for selling is family needs something bigger for exploring longer distances. Hate to see it go but hope somebody can enjoy it...VIN number upon request. Please no lowball, off the wall offers. If you know what your looking at then you know this is a clean example of a 1st gen.
Asking $5500 for MUD members, have it on CL for $5800. Price is OBO
