Bought this last summer intending it to be my son's vehicle through college (he just finished Jr year of HS). Really solid, no rust vehicle. Since it was to be a 'keeper' we took it to our trusted Toyota guy and replaced everything that might fail in the next few years. He won't be allowed a car in college so are selling it now, while everything is 'new'.
HIGHLIGHTS:
bought with 197,12x mi, just turned 198,000 mi, no accidents, all original panels and glass. Everything works (A/C, all windows including rear, radio and its antenna, locks, etc). Interior is unmarred and very clean. Has floor mats. NO RUST. Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires have 2021 date code. Wheels were recently reconditioned (very nice).
Was a northwest car for most of its life so the frame is excellent: 1st 10 yrs in D.C.Metro (Va/Md); 2011-2024 in Idaho; then to us via a reseller.
The FLAWS:
repaired stone chip in windshield (at some point we would replace, but Safelite did a good job);
some 'road rash' chips along rocker panels and a scratch in a (plastic) fender trim.
None of the chips are fully through the paint; we planned to leave it alone and ceramic coat it as an indication that the vehicle has been driven.
WHAT'S BEEN DONE:
51,549mi: timing & drive belts replaced; water pump replaced; spark plugs and wires replaced
178,477mi: Timing belt replaced (not sure about water pump); thermostat, housing and gasket replaced; valve cover gaskets replaced; coolant changed w/OEM red
182,064mi: starter replaced
188,325mi: fuel filter replaced (OEM); brakes serviced (not sure what was done beyond pads/fluid); spark plugs replaced; cabin air filter replaced; throttle body cleaned
190,129mi: oil and filter changed
190,500mi: replaced radiator and coolant; drained/refilled all differentials, transfer case and transmission; oil and filter changed (all OEM fluids);
lubed chassis;
replaced brake rotors, pads, lines and fluid, r&r rear brakes;
replaced steering rack;
replaced upper and lower control arms;
replaced upper ball joints and cam sub-assembly;
replaced sway bar links and tie rod ends;
replaced power steering belt; replaced alternator belt; replaced A/C belt
- everything OEM parts
192,966mi: oil and filter changed; replaced battery terminal and deleted remote start alarm
* in between last two services, had the frame FluidFilm coated and installed all new windshield wipers (F&R)
197,567mi: oil and filter changed
