Yes they can be imported from Canada to the US. They can also be imported from Japan but the Japanese 70's come with the crappy 2.4L and only 8in diffs from the mini trucks

2.4L and what problems did you experience? Just curious.......

Hello "1978HJ45" I had an 86 with the 2L, an 87 with the 2L-T. Here in Canada, those were a relatively common engine, unlike the States. In my area in Vancouver there is also a huge trade in importing the Hilux, the surf, and the Cruiser that all come with the L series engine. They are bags of crap. I am an auto technician and am an active part of the local Toyota community. Believe me I hear the sob stories all the time. Cracked heads, dropped valve seats, blown head gaskets... they are a boat anchor compared to the B series engine. If you would like to disagree, that is your prerogative....however the truth is hard to deny no matter how hard to swallow for any Toyota fan including myself.
