The time has come to finally part ways with my truck. Significant frame and body rust, and the addition of 2 kids in my family has resulted in letting go.
For sale is the turbo diesel out of my 85 Toyota truck. I have owned this truck for 15 years and here are some details of the engine.
All machine work performed at Vee village in KC, rebuilt about 10k miles ago in 2011 and it consisted of
- new 1.0mm oversized pistons
- all new std bearings
- rebuilt head
- new timing belt and newer idlers
- new water pump
- toyota seals and gaskets used
- rebuilt injectors, pop tested
- IP resealed, timed, internal pressure adjusted
- new block heater
- new starter
With a cold start, it starts on the first crank.
I put a rebuild kit in the turbo a long time ago but there is a crack on the exhaust side under the waste gate flap. This is a common issue on the CT20 turbo. It will spool 18psi of boost relatively quickly however, replacement or upgrade would be recommended at some point - I had planned on doing a vnt turbo ;D
If does have a small oil leak - the half moon plug on the back side of the head is where it's at. It's an aluminum plug sealed to a cast iron head. I was going to source a rubber one but never got around to it.
The engine is still in the truck, you can hear it run.
