1985 FJ60 in Boulder Colorado. $2000
This is a 1985 Toyota LandCruiser with 201k miles. It runs well, but will not pass Boulder emissions in current condition. The last couple tanks of gas have both been about 13mpg on average (pretty good for a Cruiser). The engine runs smoothly and has good power. Both the airconditioner and heater (front and rear) work great. The air/smog pump was replaced this spring, the radiator was replaced last winter, the power steering pump last fall, and the shocks were done last spring. It has a Pioneer CD player (never skipped) and Audiobahn speakers in the front doors.
There are some small cracks in the dash, the usual LandCruiser driver's seat tear and the carpet in the cargo area has been torn by one or two overzealous friends helping me move (which it is great at!). Otherwise the interior is clean and in good condition.
I do know that the EGR valve and its controlling vacuum valve need to be replaced, and some of the vacuum lines are misrouted. If you're mechanically inclined these parts can be pretty easily replaced, and the vacuum lines can be put back together with the factory emissions manual. Or, even better, if you live in a non-emissions area you could completely desmog it, pick up a little more power and increase the gas mileage and love it to death.
It does have some rust, the worst of which is at the bottom of the driver's side front quarter panel.
It leaks a little oil, most of which is coming from the rear seal (or so I've been told). It's not a huge amount, I just check it whenever I fill the gas tank and top off as necessary. At some point the plug for the transfer case was stripped, so it leaks a bit there, but really not much.
It has 31x10.5 BF Goodrich AT TA/KO's that have a few thousand more miles on them, but they will probably need to be replaced later this year. I figure it's better to cut the price a bit and let you choose your own.
It comes with a Thule roof rack and ski mounts. I'll also throw in a Haynes manual, and whatever spare parts are laying around the garage.
Overall it really is in decent shape, I just don't want people to be expecting something that it isn't. I'd really like to keep it, but I just picked up a new car, and can't really justify keeping this for the occasional use it would get. I'm getting tired of the sobbing sounds coming from the garage. Somebody needs to give it a good home.
If you have any questions; want to set up a time to take a look at it; or would like pictures of anything else you can call me at xxx or send an e-mail to xxx. I probably won't answer the phone during weekdays (I'll be at work), but I will get back to messages as quickly as possible. If the pricing seems unreasonable, let me know.
