So am I understanding that using Cams in tank fuel pump in an fj60 tank might be a problem rather than changing to an fj60 to tank?

I am running it with no problem. I went new rubber lines to hard lines. I love the idea of all the options above, but I love the clean look of as many fuel lines as possible. In tank pump is more work, but I am glad I did!

No. His pump setup is superb in a 60 tank. It’s still an option for me but with this new long range tank I’m getting I like this under hood pump better.

I know most people in this thread no all the details on installing an in tank pump, but just in case here is what I did. Drained fuel, dropped tank (mark your bands I didn't realize they were side specific....I should have, but didn't) I then took the tank and had it professional cleaned. Got Cam's pump measured and drilled hole for new pump. The most time consuming part is cleaning the tank after you drill with a vacuum and a magnet...easily a couple hours to clean it as best I could. From there I got threaded flange ring tack welded in by @under_psi We also welded up the old send and return lines on the tank basically making it a cap. I kept all factory vent lines active on the side of the tank and hooked them all back up on the reinstall. Once I got pump fill hose measured to length I installed pump. The most important part is to get fuel gasket sealer. @FJ60Cam told me this and it is a must. I lined my gasket with sealer for additional protection, dropped pump in and coated every thread and under the head with permatex fuel gasket sealer. Once I got pump installed in tank I tackled the 4x8 accessory door, cut the hold in the floor, got it all mounted up and installed. Ran new fuel lines to hard lines then reinstalled tank. Which took a lot longer than it needed to because I fought the bands like an idiot till I figured they were side specific. After that it was in in about 10 minutes. It added a little more time to the install for sure with all the cleaning, drilling and welding, but worth it. If you do this.....install the accessory door!

Why not get a 62 long range tank and use an in tank pump?

Will add a few more.

This is for my Pig. My AFI is doing great in the 60. Not touching that.

Gotcha. I don’t speak pig parts, maybe I should learn.

With accessory door.

Actually ignore last pic. That has the right air cleaner and then jumped vacuum to sniper.

Reading the install no it should be fine into a 60 tank. and it looks straight forward from the install manual to what is posted here.
I think there is some confusion as @wngrog and myself are talking about the FJ60 Long Range Automotive tanks, which are much deeper than the stock tanks.

Why not get a 62 long range tank and use an in tank pump?

Does not do much good when you already have the FJ60 LRA tank installed and operating fine. If I were to do it again, yes.
1. I have no desire to drop the tank again (it was a pita to get that installed the first time by myself)
2. I am not giving up my LRA tank for anything. It is by far the best mod I put on my 60.

Seeing this pic, you are using a hot water heat riser. How is that working for you now that it is colder.

I actually do not have one installed. I have one in a box, but never used installed it. I live in Mississippi cold here isn't really cold... ha

Honestly looking at the pic you wouldn't know that there is an EFI system installed there. Looks pretty stock especially with the mate to the stock Air cleaner.

Yup! I tried to do everything to keep it as stock looking at possible that was my entire goal. So, I guess it worked!!!

Wonder if there is any "performance" difference between having the header installed and the stock exhaust/intake manifold horns with heat riser.

Probably not much, but’s its cleaner and easier in my opinion. The only thing I added not in the previous pics is a return spring like a carb. I’m not running throttle cable so wanted to help having the throttle blade to return to zero.

I read @DickM thread. Seems like his setup was a bit over complicated.
You are absolutely right about that. By the end, I had it as simplified as I could with just the stock 60 tank, stock 60 mechanical pump feeding surge tank with the EFI pump. And I still couldn't make it work reliably.

That is my current setup, and it works great. Very straight forward solution to kill 2 birds at once.
