I am looking to sell my 1985 SR5 4Runner with around 204k miles. Motor rebuilt 3-5k miles ago. Price: $5k OBO. Might be interested in a trade for a tagged dualsport dirtbike + cash.
I just don't drive it as often as I would like and will be getting married in the next few months and could use the cash. I drive it once or twice a week to run some errands (mean looking grocery-getter) but it hasn't been wheeled (aside from gravel/muddy roads) in years. It runs great and I hate to get rid of it.
The previous owner (who passed away) rebuilt the engine around 3-5k miles ago, but I couldn't get the details on the work done prior to purchasing (assume it was standard head gasket, timing chain, water pump, etc.). I have the Carfax report and can share if requested. More details below.
The Good:
- Original fuel-injected 22RE rebuilt 3-5k miles ago. Runs very well.
- Original solid front axle: Total rebuild 1k miles ago.
- Very little rust on body (rattle can flat black paint)
- 35" Baja crawlers in decent shape with 15" black steel wheels.
- 30 spline Longfield front axle shafts
- Aussie locker front, unknown auto-locker in the rear
- Aisin Manual Hubs
- All-pro 5" springs with banana shackles in the front
- Hysteer with IFS steering box
- V6 disc brake conversion in the front, rebuilt rear drum brakes and replaced shoes less than 1k miles ago.
- Marlin Crawler rear bumper
- New battery, cables and starter.
- Working Rear Window
- Interior in good shape (carpet in great shape, rear SR5 seats pristine, front seats swapped for what I believe are gray first gen seats)
- Original hard-top in great shape.
The Bad:
- Needs new front shocks (might replace for my own sanity in the next few weeks)
- Rear wheel wells need some body work as the fenders were chopped by the previous owner and the replacement was done with some sheet metal and some sort of epoxy
- Sticky throttle cable: This is more of a nuisance, but the throttle cable sticks. Either needs lube or to be replaced.
- A/C Does not work. Heat is great, but A/C system has a leak and wont work
- Moonroof cracked, but does NOT leak
This is all that comes to mind right now. Let me know if you have additional questions.
