Description
Here is a professionally restored like new 1982 4 wheel drive FJ60 Toyota Land cruiser with 143k miles. If you are familiar with the history and reputation these Land Cruisers have earned than you know how all around functional of a vehicle it is. These have stood up to the test of time unlike most trucks in it’s class, these earlier Land Cruisers have proven themselves overall dependable and very durable all around.
In regards to the restoration, and condition every detail has been meticulously planned out accordingly in making this truck like new and in some areas better. In great detail I have a full description listing here to follow of all work performed, extensive records of dated receipts, and warranties still active which are transferable to the new owner. I recently had all this work done because I wanted to keep it but I’m buying a house and my wife says we need to sell. So this is truly a great opportunity for someone to receive a truck that needs nothing, I have put all the time and effort in it.
Mechanical
Motor
On February 2, 2007 I had the engine completely overhauled by Man-A-Fre, one of the oldest ToyotaLand Cruiser specialists in California. The block was hot tanked and honed, this means cleaned and checked for any imperfections. New Pistons and rings installed, crank shaft balanced, new head, new carburator, new radiator, new water pump, new thermostat, new hoses, new distributor, new starter, new engine mounts, all new belts. New stainless steel ceramic coated header, 3 inch stainless steel exhaust tubing, new muffler and catalytic converter (Exhaust completed by Warner Custom Exhaust). All work performed passes California emissions testing.
All work done was thorough and receipts provided state exactly what’s listed here. More was done at the time of rebuild but I wanted to mention the more important details.
April 3, 2008 I had a complete tune up done professionally with receipts by Bob’s Carbs. Replaced were, rotor, spark plugs, wires, oil, air filter, fuel, air and oil filter, timing was then tuned
Manual Transmission
March 9, 2008 Transmission and transfer case were completely gone through by Man-A-Fre, new mounts, new seals, new case basket, new clutch, new throw out bearing, new idler shaft o ring. May 8, 2008 I had the U-Joints and hardware replaced by Oceanside Driveline. Again I have all receipts to prove work was completed.
Suspension
The axles were recently serviced. Hub bearing clips replaced and regreased, all gears were inspected, new oil. Steering box was replaced and steering shaft U joints, new power steering pump, also in addition the tie rods were replaced. The shocks and springs are stock and perform perfectly with no sag. The alignment is straight and was just completed April 23, 2008 by North County Import Specialist; there is no uneven tire wear. Tires were replaces April 21, 2008 by Discount Tire, they are 31/1050/R15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain. (I have the stock rims and Tires; the rims have little to no rust on them and the tires are brand new BF Good wrench P23575S15)
Brakes
I actually just had the brakes inspected and have paperwork, the rotors were resurfaced, brake pads replaced. No odd noise, no wobbling when braking hard, when applied doesn’t want to steer away.
Exterior
Body Work and Paint
I had the body work and paint completed by Braxmeyer Restorations out Vista California. Braxmeyer Restorations is a body & paint specialist specializing in classic restorations using only the best paint and materials available. He used Glasurit Paint which is a world renowned for its durability and life long shine. In addition, I had all the exterior trim and grill blacked out using rubberized coating. Both bumpers are new and freshly powder coated black to match. All lens covers and rubbers are new and I upgraded the headlights with new European halogens headlamps. In additions, I had the base of the vehicle sprayed with a black rubberized coating to protect it from rocks and road hazards.
I have the stock bumpers which are rust free and very straight
Interior
I started on the interior by replacing the headliner with a new one from Spectrum Off Road; I had it installed by Oceanside Upholstery. The Remaining interior is very solid with few blemishes. The driver’s side front seat has two tears on the base by the handle; the passenger seat and rear seat are in perfect condition with no tears or wear. I covered the front two seats with Spectrum Off Road set covers, they look good ; however, If I was not being forced to sell, I would research the internet and find someone to upholster the drivers side seat. As far as the carpeting and door panels, they are in great shape and have little to no wear. The dash is in great shape with one small crack that can be repaired for about $75.00, other than that it looks perfect.
