Ive decided to sell my Trekker, I need my garage bay back and need to recoup the funds for some house projects and it has to go. Its a 1981 SR5 Trekker, red with 180,000 miles, 5 speed gauges. The body is in good shape, no frame rust other than surface rust, it runs good, shifts good and the 4wheel drive is good and solid. It has all new cooling system / heater hoses, new belts, filters, under hood fuel lines, water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, the exhaust was replaced including the manifold a few thousand miles ago with the exception of the cat and it has new clutch hydraulics "master & slave cylinders". It also has brand new Yokahoma Geolander AT/S tires on refinished factory SR5 wheels. I had a locksmith make a new set of keys for the rear hatch.
The truck has a rust hole in the pass side front fender down low, not the metal behind it just the fender, it could be patched and the passenger side rear floor has a rust hole behind the seat. The frame is solid just has surface rust. For a 1981 its a definite candidate for a full restoration which is what I had in mind. The interior is all there including the back seat and rear arm rests! The truck was bought new by my friend Matts first cousin, which sold it to Matt back in 2000, Matts freind John bought it from him back in 2007 and I bought it last year so the history is well known on this one.... I have a valve cover gasket kit, if I get time Ill warm it up and check the valve clearances, if not it will go with it along with any other related parts I have for it, I have the spare tire / wheel but it has not been refinished. Ive put a few hundred miles on it and it runs good, there is some vibration coming out of the rear end but it does have 180,000 miles on it. Serious calls only please! ~Matt 304-671-1481

happen to have working ac?

Give me a call at 304-671-1481 or email me with Trekker in the subject line at Mbernazzoli@hotmail.com if youd like to discuss it, Ive got a few calls on it already from CL but no takers yet! It would be a great candidate for a restoration / daily driver project or could easily be built to wheel since it has a stock solid front axle!

I do have the door panels, they are in pretty bad shape from where someone stole the speakers out of the doors years back... I do have the SR5 speaker wire connectors with the factory clips in the glove box so installing a new set will be easy!

Forgive my ignorance, but that is a non-removable fiberglass top, correct?

Very neat, based on some googling it looks like there were less than 1500 of these released, maybe even only 800 in America?

Your correct, the Trekker was built before the 4Runner, its a 4 seat SUV. You could remove the rear top during a restoration but its not like the early 4Runners where it can be removed and put back on easily. Trekkers are very rare trucks, mine is listed in the Trekker registry and its one of about 40 on there!! I hate to sell it but I want it to go to somone thats going to restore it or use it, I just dont have the time and really could use my garage bay back as the Trekker has been parked indoors for about a year now!

wow, i haven't seen one of these in years. could you post more pics of the interior? good luck!

I think Im going to list her on Autotrader and possiby fleabay if anyone is intereseted in this thing come and drive it home!

Ive got a few calls about the Trekker this week but no takers just yet! Ive been asked several times about the title so Ill answer that here, it comes with a clean and clear WV title in my name ready to sign over!! Call me if your seriously interested! 304-671-1481 ~Matt

"The truck has a rust hole in the pass side front fender down low" Can we see a picture of this and the frame rails? Thanks, looks way cleaner on the exterior than any early SAS truck I have seen in the past.

Its a 1982!

I accidentally listed it as a 1981, its actually a 1982 SR5, sorry for any confusion. Here is a link to some pictures I took today. The frame does have surface rust, but thats it. Ive been told by others to undercoat it to make it look good but I do not want it to seem like Im hiding anything on the truck, it is what it is!!! Any questions or if you guys need any more pictures let me know!

Here is the link, you can open it up then enlarge the pictures inside.

Thanks, I got your email too. I'm coming back down to Georgia from Canada via a friend's big rig. Not sure I could swing the trip, but your trekker looks really good minus that one fender. Can't really ask for a more solid one than that. I'm really wanting a 90-95 22re manual 4 Runner, but you can't beat that SAS in your trekker. Decisions, decisions. Thanks agian, I'll think about it

No problem

I agree, a stock SAS with a full fiberglass rear, they really are a classic truck! Id keep it but I know its going to be YEARS before its finished and in the meantime I just have too many other things going on and it takes up an entire garage bay! Let me know, Ive got a few more emails on the truck but nothing serious, I havent put it on Ebay or Autotrader yet... Id love to swap in a Tacoma 2.7 engine and transmission and bring it all up to modern specs with AC and all but I know it just wont happen. I drive a 1988 Toyota 4x4 ext cab pickup too, Ive owned it for over 15 years and LOVE it, its has the 3.0 engine but Im running Thorley headers and a Borla catback, it also has a full fiberglass bed built by B&G Fiberglass, the Trekker was just something I always wanted and if I didnt have my 88 I wouldnt be selling it, thats a fact! Anyway let me know, thanks again! ~Matt

any one who ends up with this Trekker is lucky. One of the cleaner Trekkers that I have seen...
