I’m giving up one of my toys to concentrate on the other. I purchased this brown-on-brown FJ60 in May 2006 from a gentleman in Dallas who took painstaking care to maintain it, at least mechanically. And he didn’t lie. Work done in the past 20,000 miles:

Remanufactured Starter Installed 166,466 miles
MAF Add-A-Leaves Rear 165,500 miles
Radiator Flushed 163,786
New Fuel Filter, PCV Valve, Rebuilt Transmission,
New Transfer Case 163,247
New Battery 154,452
New Heater/Coolant Hoses, New Clutch 152,870

Oil changes have been complete religiously every 3,000 miles. My mechanic commented after a general lookover that it was one of the cleanest FJ60s mechanically he’s seen in a while. The only problem which he foresee in the future, but nothing that needs to be addressed now, is to replace the oil pan gasket.

Aesthetically, it needs some slight work, if one desires; it didn’t really bother me. It was damaged in a hail storm in Texas so the hood has some dents on it. The rear driver’s-side quarter panel looks like it was poorly repaired by a body shop. There is slight rust over the rear passenger-side wheel well. There is also a patch of missing paint on the tailgate. The frame is super solid.

Interior it is fairly clean except for the headliner and the cargo carpet. The headliner needs replacing and I have a replacement, but just haven’t gotten around to having it installed. The replacement goes with the car. The cargo carpet was replaced by the PO with marine grade carpet, which looks ok. Also, one of the interior cargo panels is coming loose.

Extras: The car has rear speakers installed in the cargo area. Hella headlights have been installed. Aftermarket wheels with 31” Michelin tires.

Also, to add, the four wheel drive works fine and the AC blows ridiculously cold (it was a Texas truck).

Starting price is $3500 OBO. (I might be willing to throw in tan tuff duck seat covers...) For answers to any questions, feel free to PM or email if you want to see any pictures. I'll try to post a link to some pics tomorrow.

Car is in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

It's amazing how these vehicles come around. I test drove that LC last year in Dallas. It was just as you described. He spent thousands on maintaining the drivetrain. I only passed on it because it was an earlier model FJ60, and he said some guy from New Mexico was coming down to get it if I didn't buy it. I didn't want to make a rush decision.

You didn't mention that George had owned it since it was brand new, and he bought a brand new FJ Cruiser to replace it.

Best of luck with the sale.

Thanks for the mention, Scott. Actually, carfax pulled up that he was the third owner, but I believe he had it since 1995. I still have all his records.

Cheers,

Kevin

Those links do not work with out signing in. Nobody will register to see them like that. I suggest you post them up here. Does the kodak Picture service allow url sharing?

If so when you go advanced for posting there is a symbol at the top of the page which looks like a mountain on a landscape. If you click on that it gives you a place to insert the url. Then it displays the pictures from your site onto mud.

Cheers, BB

Thanks, Brown Bear. I'll look into it. Anybody interested can still PM me and I'll send pictures directly.
