I don't really want to sell this. Just finished it to the point where it looks good, and can take the family in it. I have put in hours of labor and tons of money into this, but it just isn't being used.

I have re-built the tub (new metal bent not panels) and painted it (roller job but looks great)

3B with 420 000kms on it.

Heavy duty 4X2 Tube bumper for the rear (it was gone so I replaced it with this) It has a 2" receiver for a hitch. I have been using it to haul around my tent trailer.

I just put in a Ramsey worm drive winch and a 24v to 12v converter.

Bench seat from a caravan in the rear.

32X10.5X15 on Aluminum rims

4" Hell Creek lift.

I am still not sure I want to sell it. I'd rather keep it and also buy a truck to take camping. I wanted to own this till I die so don't low ball me. If my price seems out of line let me know.

Pictures will be coming.

Yes this post has been up awhile. See there have been many views but no replys. Here are those Pic's.

1981 Landcruiser BJ42. Hardtop 4X4. When they built these things they were built like tanks...and drive like them too. Selling due to the fact I'm not driving it. Hate to see it sit and not get some use. It is in shape enough that it doesn't look like a pile of junk, but not so perfect that you are afraid to use it.

Work done....TONS!

-Suspension. New springs, bushings and shocks.
-Body Tub rebuild 2 years ago. Paint to keep the rust off, looks good but not perfect. Doors need some work, and the top is not perfect.
-New windshield as I had to rebuild the windshield frame.
-Tires TSL Super Swamper Radials 32X10.50R15 lots of tread. On aluminum rims.
-Rear bumper rebuilt with reciever hitch and LED lights
-Voltage reducer for accessories. It is 24V system NATO specs
-Ramsey worm drive Winch on the front.
-Dodge caravan seat in the rear.

She is not perfect, but will go anywhere. I drove it from Nelson to here through Osoyoos in the blistering heat pulling a utility trailer. Engine never even seemed to get hot! It's a rough ride, noisy (so you can't hear the tires! Radio or the your buddy yelling beside you) and your girlfriend or wife will probably not want to go for lengthy rides! Kids love it! Seats in the front are in need of work...but the covers keep you out of the springs. Heater works awesome! Even with cold air (-20 in Nelson) I had no problem staying warm and keeping the frost moisture off the windows. Air conditioning...yes both windows roll down. I can throw the dog into pant in the back if you like.

It is a bit of a rare item and I hate to see it go. Price is reflective on what these are worth. If you are looking for something to beat in the bush......get another truck. This one will take you everywhere without the beating. Totally restored this model I have seen in excess of $32000!

No low ball offers! No offers over email unless you have actually looked at it. Don't come expecting to take it for a ride as it is not insured. If you are serious I will permit it for a day and we can take it out.

Price?

12000.....see 1st post above
You have a nice truck and a rare one at that. However just finishing up my first restore its a little too much for my blood. Good luck with the sale.

See my sale thread in my sig line for my BJ42. Waiting for a deposit check to arrive today, with two more people waiting now to also pay full price if the first deal falls through. 48 hours from posting to closure of the deal. Clearly I could have sold it for a bit more, eh? :)

Your location makes things a bit challenging, especially if you won't take offers without someone coming to see it. If you want the high dollars, you're probably going to have to take that chance. Just don't go shipping it somewhere without having the full amount in the bank, of course.

also something to consider- 420k miles is not a young engine. While these are known to hit 500k................420k is 95% used............meaning i personally would be factoring in a full engine overhaul when considering purchasing the vehicle. imho- i personally would be taking that right off the top of $13-14k...........where good low mileage versions seem to be pricing in at. Full rebuilds are what on a 3b? 5k? plus hassle of downtime / pulling engine etc.. all factors which contribute to price points.

What is in the picture is a $4500 truck. No, I'm not joking.

The "$32,000" trucks you've seen have been fully rebuilt and restored. Just going by the pics alone yours would take $20,000, minimum, to put into the same shape (frame up restoration and driveline rebuild).

Not to be a buzz kill or a pile on, but Diesel is pretty correct. Unless you are a shop (and even sometimes not even then), you rarely get out what you put in.

I'd say that with the painted over rust (bottom of the door and running board) and the mileage, $3500 to $4500 is a good estimate. and that is assuming that the frame is in great shape and rust was properly handled in the paint process.

This is partly due to the economy, but mostly just what the market would bear. You could try eBay. People tend to spend more than other places there...

Our economy in the USA is in the tank, your dollar is generally even with or better than ours lately so I feel I can make a fair comparison.

300,000 plus miles, visible rust and non original parts (rear bumper). That truck is FAR from 12K, close to $3500.00 to $4500.00.

Here in Utah, which has an exceptionally large selection of Cruisers, you can get an EXCELLENT stock or heavily modified FJ-40 for $12000.00.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it is the truth.

I say keep it for a while, preferably dry.

I agree with others on the 3-4000 price. Your location is also a problem. Our economy is bad. As realtors say....price and location,location..... 2 cents MIke
