1980 pickup, 4wd, shortbed

Persistent fuel problems.

Installed clear new tygon fuel line tank pickup to filter
Fuel gauge shows 1/4 (new after market sender)

Fuel filter never get past half full

Large air bubbles in fuel line, like 30% by volume pulled to filter, no small bubbles in clear line back to fuel pickup just big bubbles (ie line not leaking)

Its got to be tank or pickup, right?

Sick of fighting with them. Anyplace to get new pickup and or a new tank that will fit?

Thanks

I fought this issue for a long time. It was sick a hassle.
I finally replaced my tank. The original was completely rusted on the inside.this fixed all my problems.
I found a new tank on autos one website and just ordered one from a long bed 84 truck I think. It was slightly bigger but nothing hard about making it fit. Also, I couldn’t find the filter ( sock) that is inside the tank. I modified one from an 80 and worked great. No more fuel issues. Just make sure all your lines are correctly connected to the new tank. I messed that up at first and had a hell of a time figuring out what was wrong. Haha

is the 84 longbed tank longer? or is is just tweaking the angles?

I know the mounting for both are 3 holes on each end.

Thanks,

Eric-

It is deeper. It is a 19 gallon instead of 14. The mounting holes line up. I had to be d the bed floor frame a little to make it fit. Also I had to figure out the inlet tube. But nothing ridiculously complicated.
