Hate to do it but have to sell my 1980 fj40.
The good, mustard yellow, 115K miles. Factory power steering. Goodyear tires with 90% tread left. Has all the smog equipment still on there. It drives great. I have antique tags so I only drive it once a week or so, but it gets up to 75 mph easily on the highway. Jump seats are in excellent condition. Front seats need new upholstry, but I have good set of fj60 seats installed right now. All lights and switches work. New shocks, new fuel pump, oil changed (rotella), new radiator fluid. I have the soft top frame but the canvas is in bad shape.
The bad, could use a complete exhaust system, steering box has a leak, I have a hard top but it doesn't match (off white). It has an vaccum problem that I think might be because of a stripped carb stud, cracked windshield, moderate amount of rust mostly located on the bottom lips of the doors and on the passenger side rocker panel and above the passenger wheel well. PO had diamond rear corners put on and painted to match. Rear bed and parts of the front floors had been replaced by PO with galvanized. Frame seens really solid, but does has east coast surface rust.
I've got tons of spare parts including a ramsey winch that needs a rebuild (not installed). If someone buys I will replace the belts and hoses. I don't see why it could'nt be driven a good distance, the drivetrain seems excellent.
Essentially this is a 40 that would make a great trail/dd as it or resto canidate with a new rear tub. If you are interested and would like pictures I can email some.
The tricky part, figuring out what its worth... $4800/BO?
Almost forgot, Located in Virginia, 30 minutes south of Winchester. 22644
