Also still working on my trailer, making sure it is in top notch condition.

1. Installed new backing plates and brakes. My brake drums were still good. Installed new bearings all around.

BTW... I learned that it takes a while to break in new trailer brakes. The new magnet has to "wear" into the pattern on the drums. As the groves and pattern get closer the better the magnet can grip the drum . At this point then the brakes can start gripping the outside of the drum and start their break in process.

Yesterday @adistler1, @Rainman and I went to Henderson, KY to drop off Arron's 78 FJ40 to his Uncle Harry! Wow what a great trip!

Ole Uncle Harry is not doing much ya know.. He said he was 65 years old and retired.... well don't be fooled. He is only building a 29 FORD COUPE and it is only got a 572 BBC (Edit: Its a 502 Ford bored .120 over to make 572 ) between the rails.:confused:...he built the frame from scratch and is doing the whole car himself.:clap:

Needless to say I think Arron's 40 is in great hands!!

Then we went to Evansville, IN for some dinner. WOW! House of Como has fabulous steaks!!

I highly recommend it!! Unless you are a vegetarian.

It wasn't a Big Block Chevy... It was a big Ford bored out 0.120 for big HP fore a tiny car. He'll NEVER be able to experience the entire output of that engine in that T bucket.

Spare tire carrier latch had too much slack in it from almost 40 years of wear and tear.

1. I ground off the head off the pin that holds it all together

Notice in this picture the pin has a shoulder and the latch has two different size holes to accommodate the different diameters on the pin

2. I drilled out the smaller hole. So the pin would have room to go through and not stop against the shoulder of the pin. And that allowed me to clamp the hinge tighter together. To take up the slack.

Notice the pin sticking out past the hinge when I applied clamping pressure.

3. When I got the proper clamping force I welded her up.

Just caught up. Not sure why I'm not receiving updates on your thread. @beno comes up with some nice stuff. I'm stalled on my rig due to factors out of my control right now. I love customs. Looks like you are having a great time with this build.

I asked my painter to send me some pictures of my truck....

You know just to check on how he was coming along and how the truck was looking.

I was soo excited when his text came through.

Little did I know how great a sense of humor he has.

I thought WTF!!!! Could ya zoom out just a bit?? Hahaha

So finally .. he sent me some more this week.

Of course staying with the factory 621 rustic green...

But I decided I would use Raptor Liner in side the cab of the truck and the under side of the fenders. Tinted 621 green..

I didn't want to use any bed liner on my truck.

But after looking at the Raptor Liner. I liked the texture and the fact it was tintable.
