I will sand down the bottom, treat the rust and then paint with POR 15.

I rebuilt the hinges for my passenger side tire carrier in post #322.

I noticed that the pin and hinge was badly worn. I finally came up with my solution.

Remount the carrier and get it adjusted.

Then take some metal epoxy and put down the hinge, then insert pin. Tape off bottom to keep it from leaking out.

I used Quick Steel instead of JB Weld. It had a higher PSI and shorted cure time.

Waiting on the epoxy to cure.

I'm letting the epoxy cure over night and I will check to see if it worked in the morning.

Just in case it doesn't, and the pin spins the epoxy, which I hope it doesn't. I will grind out the bottom of the epoxy and weld the pin to the hinge.

In case I have to do that Im hoping that the epoxy will still be good on filling the voids the the hinge.

Some more welding... before I take her to the painter.

A long time ago someone drilled this hole... for what reason?? I don't have clue?

Well....I'm sure he thought he was going to get to the bolt latch and remove it... but that is the stupidest way to remove the bolt....:bang::bang::bang:

BTW... this is the bolt latch for my barn doors

Loaded up and ready for my road trip in the morning to Cookeville, TN. ( I pronounce it cook-E-ville:hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly:), but the E is silent.

I’m having my 73 done soon. I too am leaving the steering column in and the wiring. Messing with the old wiring when everything works didn’t appeal to me. Did you leave the pedal assembly in yours? I also removed my heater.
