Vehicle Condition:
As you can see from the link, a lot of work was done on a 40 that had not been treated well.
Highlights:
- All new sheet metal was put in the floor pan and rear quarter panels
- The mechanicals were gone over with a fine toothed comb (semi-complete list below) and the stock 2F engine runs great
- Everything on the vehicle works - lights, turn signals, wipers, horn, brakes, Speedo, guages, 4WD, etc.
- I added power steering from a HiLux Toyota truck, It works great, does not leak, and significantly improved the daily drivability of this 40.
- As the 40 is from South America, it does not have, and never had, a heater. During the rebuild I made sure that I had an extra pulley installed so that I could add a combo heater/AC unit from Vintage air later on.
- The South American paint job is servicable, but I will likely get it repainted at some point if I decide to keep it as there are a few areas where the paint is not up to my standards. Most people think that it looks fantastic. There is light surface discoloration on top of the paint in a few areas because the shop did not use a stainless washer where specified. Note the emphasis on light and surface. I am a stickler about this stuff - there is No rot on this car whatsoever. I have added a close of shot of one of the hinges so that you can see exactly what I am referring to.
- Threre is one small ding on the bottom of the passenger fender. It is the size of a dime and occured during the unload from the cargo ship. See pictures for details.
