For anyone who is interested I recently found an add for a 1974 FJ-40 for sale on a repairables lot near Sioux City, Iowa. It was a project being done by a guy who passed away from cancer and the owner of Custom Sales picked it up at the estate auction. The unit has a very nice looking cowl piece, window frame with good glass, some nice looking and complete doors and a hood. The unit also comes with a brand spanking new aluminum 3/4 tub that was still in the crate with an aluminum tranny hump. A brand new poly gas tank is included as well. The seller has the invoice from where the PO had purchased (around $2,900) for the tub, tranny hump, gas tank and shipping so he is selling the whole enchilada for $3,000. I have tried to deal with him to get the price down but he says he basically paid the invoice price for the whole project. My wifey says no more money on extra vehicles and I don't know that $3,000 is such a good deal for a project even though the aluminum tub and good cowl would make my 1970 look a whole lot better. I figured that I would let you guys know that this is available and see if anyone would be interested. I have no affiliation with the seller and I have not found him to be very easy to deal with.
