I am at 61" wms to wms up front, I took a stock fj60 housing and widened the short side to achieve this width.i didn't have to do any outboarding. If I decided to widen it further up front I would widen the short side even more which would move the diff closer to center and make it even easier to weld on perches to clear the diff.

I had thought of moving my diff to the left for spring perch clearance, but it's already looking like my DS angles slightly to the left, and if I moved the diff further left, I'd have problems with the DS/oil pan I think. But hard to tell with it being SOA, until I get some weight on to see where things will sit.

I just stumbled across this thread, dude you have done some sweet work on that 40!

my atlas hangs down a lot more than that to get my drive shaft into a reasonable angle. i think you’ll be fine with yours where it is.

Set the tub back on for fitting Atlas, Steering, front DS and more

Steering column is a tight fit. In the pic is a Hi Lift jack handle, about 1 ¼" diameter, just to get an idea. I'm going to have to do something with that return line on the steering pump, as I'm hitting it and the shaft will need to be angled up a bit more. Also in the pic is what the PO left for me where the steering column went through the firewall:bang:

Haven't read your entire thread but if needed you could relocate the pump with one of these GoatBuilt options.

Well what do you know? Thanks! Never heard of this, might be just the ticket for me. I was trying to figure out if I could bend the return fitting somehow, or get a new one put on, it's just in the way a wee little bit. But I'll look into this.

I bent the return significantly on my Saginaw pump and now issues so far. If that's all that's in the way...bend away just try not to kink it!

Looking for comments on engine mounting. Getting close to tacking it in but need opinions. The current placement checks with the radiator, steering, front DS, vertical clearance under bonnet, tub fits and clears.

Where do you measure for level on the engine?? I tried the forward edge of oil pan, seems pretty close there, but doesn't quite jive with tranny mount, which I assume is level- regardless, nothing to be done about that.

But I'm confused. The right AA mount sits 1" above the frame. The left sits 1 ¼" above frame. Yet the NV4500 mount surface is nice and level. And when measuring angle from a flat surface on top of tranny, it shows the engine needs to "roll" right just a bit more, even though it seems to already be rolled right?!

And, the Atlas rear output is dead on center. But when measuring from aft edge of shock towers to centerline of mounts, the right side is 12 ¼" back and the left is 12 7/16" back from rear edge of shock tower? If I make these measurements the same then the C/L of Atlas would be slightly left of fore and aft frame C/L. Maybe this would be correct as the rear axle pinion isn't actually dead center?

And to confirm, the frame is all nice and leveled.

UPDATE: I was mostly just messed up:hmm: Just more measuring, messing around, leveling and staring at it for a while.

Final position:

1) 12 ⅜" from aft edge of shock tower to C/L of engine mount.
2) 1" from top of frame to bottom edge of AA mount.
3) Engine C/L is about 13/16" left of frame C/L.
4) 3˚ down towards rear.
5) Atlas C/L is ½" left of frame C/L.

And now, :beer::bounce2::clap:

UPDATE 2, I just wasn't happy with the Atlas not centered and kept figuring why that would be. Basically just needed more massaging of placement. Atlas is centered, there's room for steering shaft, exhaust clearance, and DS should be good:clap:

1) 12 ⅜"
2) 1 ¼"
3) 5/16"
4) 3˚
5) Centered

I don't suppose anyone would know the diameter of the Toyota DS flanges? I don't yet have the flange in hand coming off the Atlas to the front. If I knew the diameter, I could continue progress on the X member for that. The flange should be here in a month or less, I'm just impatient and wanna get it done:hmm:

I can drop my 40 off and you can measure whatever you need on it!
