I have this '72 fj40 in Salisbury Maryland that I either need to sell or ship to NYC where I live, to get it operational. It is not currently running, the motor turns over but does not stay running. I believe it needs the choke hooked up, or the carb rebuilt. I believe it is a 2F. The plugs, wires and distributer have all been replaced. The gas tank was cleaned and replaced. The clutch has been rebuilt. A friend who was working on it for me no longer has the time to get it finished. There is a rusted thru hole the size of a coke can on the drivers side floorboard, and rust on the rear lower ambulance doors, but otherwise it seems to be minimal. I do not have any pics of the interior, it will need carpet or rubber mats. The front seats are from a van, and look descent. The tires are 33X12.5" BFG all terrain in great shape with white wagon rims, and a 4" lift. I'm not sure what I am looking to get, but am open to offers/trades. The pics of the motor are before everything was hooked up, and the pic of the vehicle with the larger tires is the most recent. I will post the other pics that I have. Many requests for price, so $3500 obo.

Open to offers/trades, not sure what it is worth? I am not interested in parting it out. I would like to sell/trade it complete so I don't have to ship it to NY. I already have a '78 and don't really need another Fj40 in my driveway. If no one seems interested, then I will see about shipping it up here, and try again after I work on it.

Open to offers. I need to sell before the end of the year.

Got any more pics of the rust and pics in general?

Those are the only pics I have right now. The most recent is with the larger tires. Everything has been put back together, and hooked up. I was told it need the timing done or carb rebuilt to get it running.

72 FJ40

I went and looked at this today. Here's a few notes. I am by far no expert on these. I don't know Jeff. So this is unbiased. I went to look thinking I might buy it.

Has good later doors. 77 ish. They do have speaker holes cut in the lower panels on the front. Speakers are there. For east coast they are in very good shape. Hardly any rust.

Has 2F engine. Looks like it has hardly been run. Really, it looks like its new. It has only 2F on the block. No Serial numbers. Isn't that an indication of a dealer replacement block? This thing looks great from the oil pan up to the valve cover!

New Left front fender. Right side has the typical rust, mostly under the support.

Good tires (5)

Does have two altenators. For some reason the old F mount is still there on drivers side.

After market style rollbar.

Hood is in decent shape.

Top is in decent shape. There are two 1/2 inch holes drilled in each side for some reason. Otherwise is really good for east coast. Better than one on my 70.

Windshield frame looks really good. I did not lower it but there isn't any visible rust along the bottom. Glass will need to be replaced. Wipers are there. Old style with the thumb screw on arms.

Bib is in good shape.

Really clean transmission. 3 spd. It has the vaccum shift on the transfer case.

Has drum brakes all around. It has the boosted master so it wouldn't be hard to switch to front disk.

Motorcraft carb needs replacing.

Good looking exhaust manifold. O.E.M. style. Good intake. New gasket.

I can say this FJ40 has some really good parts. Tub is rough but I have seen worse. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm working on one now and have another I have to replace the tub on I would probably get this. I talked to Jeff and with his permission decide to put my findings to help a fellow cruiserhead with his sale. If he does decide to part this out he will have some good parts for sale.
