I'm looking to find my 1971 FJ40. I added this one to my "collection" so I could build one with each of my sons. Times change and so have their interests, so I've moved on to a UZJ 100 series that's more family oriented. While this isn't as impressive a vehicle as some of the builds on here (shout out to all of you on here that share...it's been a great help!), it has a lot of potential and is a good start.
It's a 1971 FJ with a SBC 350 (5.3 liter V8). I'm not sure of the mileage on the engine but it runs well. I had a problem with the started a while back that ended up being the flywheel (the teeth were breaking off). That definitely had to be remedied, so the FJ now has new Flywheel, Clutch Pressure plate and clutch. The body is in pretty good shape, but it's not a California vehicle and has the expected rust in places. The transmission is a Chevy 4 speed with the adapter to the stock t-case. The axles and gearing is still stock with drum brakes. The hardtop and doors are in good shape; however, the rear lift gate has some bodywork that was done (see pics). This was done before I purchased the FJ and it needs to be redone. I planned on fixing it when I got it painted, but that never came. The tires are all nearly new (33' Cooper Discoverer STT). I have a few extra parts and an extra set of axles I'm happy to include if the new owner is interested. I hate to see this gem parted out, so if you know of someone who would be interested in this classic please let them know this one is available.
