You're looking at one of the coolest trucks ever built; the mighty Land Rover IIa.

This is a long wheel base 109 model, with safari windows in a genuine cabin cooling safari top!

The truck has been completely rewired by West Coast British, with proper fuses installed. It is difficult to find any British vehicle with no electrical problems. This one is without fault! Lucas, The Mighty Prince of Darkness has been slain!

The brakes are new, all the way around. The front brakes have had their wheel cylinders, shoes and lines replaced last week. The master cylinder is brand new, as well.

The rear fuel tank is brand new, and the lines all the way to the fuel pump are new.

The tires are about 6 months old. They are the $366/each, period correct tires the truck should have. The spare on the hood has never been on the road. The spare can also be hang from the rear door if you want more visibility out the front window.

This is a right hand drive truck! Yes, it is legal in the US. It takes about an hour to get used to it.

The truck has a very strong, reliable 2.25 petrol motor. These things run forever, look up 'land rover 2.25 petrol reliability' on google to see its reputation. This thing will carry you anywhere in the world, just not very quickly!

The truck has a 4 speed gear box, with 1st being granny gear.

The truck has the essential Fairey overdrive, which saves RPMs and fuel on the freeway.

The truck includes a brand new Hi-Lift jack.

The truck has Defender mirrors.

The headlights are H4, and super bright.

The steering is nice and tight, with no play in it.

The registration is paid up until November of 2012.

And most importantly, yes, the handle to crank start the truck is included! Just in case you get stuck in the wild with no battery.

I have two extra jump seats for the rear of the truck.

I have a few extra parts that I'll throw in, including a genuine 1969 set of factory manuals.

I am selling because I bought this truck as part of my mid-life crisis. But it's just dumb to drive my (little) kids around in a vehicle with no airbags. And my wife refuses to drive it!

These trucks vary widely in price, you can find clapped out farm trucks for $3500, and restored ones for $25k.
I am asking $10k, cash only.

I am open to trades for a Land Cruiser with low miles and preferably a V8. I'm open to the year, but it has to have airbags.

I am also open to trades for a 2006 or newer minivan, preferably a Toyota Sienna.

The truck is available for viewing and driving in Sausalito(just north of San Francisco) any time except between 6 and 830pm, that's bath and bed time for the kids.

Looks very clean from the pics. Is there any rust? How old and how well done was the paint? Any leaks...mileage?

Thank you.

There is the minimal surface rust that you would expect on any 40 year old vehicle, but nothing that I would consider to be damage.

The mileage on the odometer is around 16k, but I wouldn't trust the odometer in any truck this old. You can buy a used one for $250 and change it to whatever you like.

The paint is about a year old, I would consider it to be a lower end professional job, or an excellent amateur job. I didn't paint it.

Leaks...there are the usual small leaks that are normal for one of these trucks, nothing major. I had all of the gaskets in the front end replaced when I had the brakes done a few weeks ago and one of those gaskets is leaking. The truck is going back in next week to have that gasket replaced.
I've been told that with Landies that 'You'll never keep the rain out, you'll never keep the oil in.'

This one does not leak like most of the others I've driven.

Land Rovers don't leak ..... They simply have an ingenious " self lubricating" system that helps rust proof the undercarriage. :D
Very state of the art. :)

I've had a couple of interesting trade offers, but the right truck for me has not shown up, yet.

Any more interest?

Bob.
