Need some help. I came across a '66 FJ45 WAGON in very well preserved condition. Body is clean with minimal rust. Has a '77 engine and drivetrain. supposedly it runs great. I am planning to give it a thorough inspection next week. definitely needs some work. Seller is asking $6,000 but probably would negotiate. What would be a fair selling price for this rare ol' gem? any input would be appreciated. FJ45.webp

i have seen several of those on here over the years.depends on what you want but that seems expensive to me.body parts on those are hard to comeby.i had several of those and one was a dd for several years but they are limited off road.mine was also up graded to 2f 4 speed and front disks and 4" lift with 35s.it was in good shape but only brought 3 grand in this area.

Thanks for your input. Seems a little high to me as well. Guess it depends how well it runs and the extent of work it might entail. I am definitely a rookie when it comes to any kind of restoration and i would hate to get over my head. I can see that this sight would be great resource though. All other beta is still very much appreciated.

i think the word restoration is latin for, in over your head.....

as far as price, offer what you feel is fair. if that is $6K then pull the trigger. just from that one picture and your brief description, i'd say there is enough to pick apart, and point out to the seller that could justify maybe $4500. but you just gotta feel out the seller. it has been for sale for quite a while which you can also use to your advantage.

it is a running and driving 45 wagon though

Another quick question for those with much more knowledge than myself. The above wagon needs a gas tank or a tank repair. Would there be a problem finding a replacement? If not, where? Would it accept the same tank as any other FJ45?

one of a kind gas tank ! 45lv only tank, or make one , or ???

It does'nt look like a bad rig to me from a single pic. Definitely check the frame, the floor boards and the roof. If you pass if by spread the wealth as someone else here maybe interested. Good luck

Too much! I'd say $4K tops. Rusty and non running LV's with potential can range from $1k - $2k. I'd add $2k for the fact that it certainly isn't a basket case and does run and drive. I'd be willing to bet money that there is lots of rust. You just cant see it. Good luck. Lots and lots of good 45LV threads here on MUD.

6k seems like a lot to me. but you pay 6k for it, and it lasts you 100k miles without having to fix stuff your every bit as well off as buying it for 2k and throwing another 4k at it to get it running. have a mechanic look at it if you need an expert opinion on what it may need.

its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. myself i see 3-4k tops for a running vehicle.
