1965 Parkhurst M416A1 Trailer Rebuild

I bought this M416A1 (M416 with surge brakes) last year from a local seller on Craigslist. For $500 bucks it was a no brainer. He had a new brake cylinder, 3rd military tire, new OD green cover, and a ring receiver he threw in with the deal. I tore it down to the frame over the fall and POR-15'd the frame and underside of the body. I managed to fine a set of 5ea JK 17in rims with tires to match the jeep for another $200 (got to love Craigslist). I added new shackles, data plate, flipped the axle, swapped the brake plates to the opposite sides, and added spacer/adapters to accommodate the JK rims. To keep a little bit of its originality I used silver paint and added the Army unit data numbers to the front wall. It's all done for now except the hand brake and surge brakes. This will leave me another project to do over the next winter. :D
With the JK:

Nice refresh on that trailer... not so much you don't want to use it and enough that it'll last for years and years to come. You are gonna have to take some crap for pulling it around with a Jeep, cuz this is a Land Cruiser forum. Other than that Welcome and thank you for contributing !! What kind of use do you plan to get out of it?

Looks like you found a nice trailer for a good price. Father and son projects are the best.

Luckily no one has been dishing out the **** for being a Jeep owner. This forum is full of awsome people. I have enjoyed coming to his forum as there have been excellant ideas on how to modify theres trailers. I have always liked the idea of mounting a RTT to the top of the trailer, by man those tents are expensive. Maybe someday. Right now I'll just use the trailer to get the camping gear around and sleep in the jeep.

where'd you get that pintle mount for the reciever hitch?

Not sure exactly where the adapter and pintle came from. The person I bought the trailer from gave it to me with the purchase. The pintle is definitly mil spec. I do know that a farm and feed compnay called "Big R" out here in the Northwest sells the riser adapters like the one I have (10in I believe) off the shelf. If my memory serves me they are fairly expensive at $120 - $130 just for the riser adapter.

Thanks. I found that working on the trailer and cars are a few things that keep my son off the XBOX ... not that I haven't managed to waste away some time on the games myself.

Trailer came out awesome...matches the TV perfect...lots of luck with it!

Unit and trailer number go on the back of the trailer.

Maybe ... but the original paint job when I bought the trailer had the unit numbers on the front (look at the original pics). Personal preference I guess. Speaking from someone who is prior military … we never followed policies and procedures anyways. ;p
