Don't get me wrong, TLC builds nice stuff and I am all for capitalism and making money. I would love to stroke a check and buy one, but not in my price range. They do set the standard for high quality builds, IMO.
I agree TLC builds rigs that would be considered as a work of art. I wish there was more like there builds on the road to look at, still considering thats alot of dough.
I was fortunate to drive one earlier this year (even did some light wheelin') & agree they are very well put together, however I fail to see the value.
The one I drove had a SB Chev mated to a five speed. Handled nicely but I think my modded FJ/BJ outperforms it on the trail and on the road. I have spent more money on it than it's worth, but still nowhere near the price of an ICON.

Thats a good question to see what one would bring @ a BJ auction. I watched a blue 40 with lots of bling , tailgate bbq, 42 '' plasma u name it . Too much I know but it looked professionaly built for under 30k. Alan Jackson had a 45 wagon sale for close to a 100k I think( don't quote me on it)

Alan Jackson's FJ45LV that was built by TLC sold for $84K including the buyers premium. TLC trucks are obviously not sold for their ride or ability, they are sold for their looks and individuality. That being said, I have been told that TLC is not building too may of the retro rides any more, probably bc there is no money to be made. It takes too much time to repair rust etc. for it to be profitable. He is using new Aqualu bodies.

This sounds funny - they can't turn a profit because of too much rust. Maybe they have to increase their prices a little to help offset their additional costs . . . .

What I should said was that there are not a lot of people who are willing to pay the cost to properly repair rust because it takes a crap load of time to do it correctly. Therefore, it is not profitable, IMO, to try and run a business that relies heavily upon rustification as it main source of income. I think you get the point. But if it is what you love, then go for it. Do what you love they say.

I've decided
After reckless consideration - I've decided to fill in the now vacant $ 100K+ market. I will sell any of mine for $ 100K. I might even take a few bucks less if there is a multi vehicle purchase.
Also - I will take Canadian $ at par. What a bargain!!
Plus someone needs to fill the 100k and up end of the cruiser market.
