For Sale 1943 Willys in Central California

This is not mine and I have no affiliation with it. I saw this for sale and thought I would stop and get some pics for the Flat Fender guys incase they wanted another project.

1943 Willys

I could not find any additiona VIN plates to get any numbers other than the one on the passender side dash.

The engine is an OHV design, not the flathead.

The owner wants $1,200 and will assist on his end with shipping.

There are storage compartments on both rear fender tubs.

There is also a Long Range fuel tank under the seats.

That one looks like the actual military version with the recessed head lights and the side shovel holder. Most of these that you see were the civilian version.

I have no idea why the entire vehicle was covered in a coating of body filler (bondo is a brand name) but it was and is now flaking off.

The current owner says he has owned this for over 20 years. He used to drive it around, etc.

He does have the carburetor, it is just torn apart on his workbench.

As far as I can tell, this is a very solid rig. If some one wants a closer look at something specific, let me know and I can go and take some pictures for you.

'43 is a war jeep. my '44 had a brass s/n tag on the passenger side frame just behind the frame horn.

I have owned two of these; I'd offer $ 500 for that one and see what happens.

Think it would look cool if you used it as a gardening bed!!! Fill it with dirt and grow plants in it.

The body filler, chopped up hood, non-original engine (they had the flat Hurricane 4 I am pretty sure), and weird tailgate area would really turn it off for collectors in my opinion. The plywood floor doesn't help much either.

Production date of 12/2/1943 makes it a garden variety Willys MB, not particularly valuable, but it has outstanding "patina".
