Haven't used this thing in a while, been driving something else.

What's the procedure? I cannot find squat in the owners manual. I though it was/is press the fob button once and that's it?

On fob: Lock, lock, hold down lock for a few seconds iirc.

My remote start is a separate factory fob from the factory fob that locks/unlocks the doors. Like this:

I suppose you did, for >'16. Preesh.
I had the 2011 and now 2016. Sequence is the same for the factory remote start, at least for mine.

that's some non-factory remote likely for a non-factory remote start. Have you changed the battery in it?

Sorry, but that is not a factory part - that's an aftermarket remote start. I have no idea how that's supposed to work, but I agree it would be a good idea to stick a new battery in it as was suggested by @Big Timber above.

The factory remote start on my 2013 LC200 uses the factory key fob with the start sequence: Lock, Lock, Hold Lock - again, as described above.

If you had a factory remote start, you should have this orange sticker on the underside of your hood on the Driver's side:

I’ve been racking my brain trying to get the remote start to work on my 2016. Just popped the hood and no orange sticker. I had honestly thought it was standard! Good to know, but a little disappointing.

That looks like an Excalibur alarm with a remote start option.

I put an after market remote start on my 2016 as it's way better than the OEM one. Has up to a 1 mile range and 2 way communication vs a short distance with the OEM one.

Interesting. My 2013 has a Code Alarm brand remote starter installed by a previous owner. When I bought the vehicle the salesman at the dealership told me I didn't need to use the code alarm fob, I could just use the Toyota fob. I didn't question this as I was not sure what he was talking about, i've never had an aftermarket remote start. I just tried the lock, lock, hold mentioned above on my factory fob and the car started. I wonder how this thing is wired in to the factory wiring. Is it a canbus device? How can it start the car when the key is not detected? I've considered searching for the code alarm box and at a minimum familiarizing myself with how it is wired in so in the event of some failure I can eliminate it from the system. I wonder how reliable this aftermarket box is. It's a nice feature and I'm sure the PO spent a bit of money to install it but I'm concerned about failure of this device affecting factory systems. I'd hate to be stranded in the middle of nowhere because an aftermarket gizmo failed.

Thoughts?

Thanks
Rob

When you add and after market alarm they add the FOB to the car's list of FOB's which has a max of 8, or 8 on mine.

They leave the OEM FOB coded to the vehicle and either one will work.

The original 2 FOB's plus 2 alarm FOB's are 4 usually coded.

I don't recognize the picture FOB, but you can search and find it easily or ask some alarm store what make it is and get the manuals.
