Can anyone tell me what the oil pickup on a 13B-T engine looks like? How does this engine continue to pull oil from the pan at extreme nose up and nose down vehicle angles? Same question goes for the fuel tank pick up... How does either system not lose suction?

Thank you for that photo. So it looks like the pickup is centered in the pan. How does that not lose suction when the vehicle is standing on its front or rear bumper at an upward or downward 45 degree (or more) angle? I'm genuinely concerned about knowing at what point she's losing lube oil suction...

Isn't there baffles in the oil pan to provide a supply of oil to the pickup at angles?

I was thinking there would almost have to be, but wouldn't that reduce oil pan circulation and create oil life complications?

Just what degree of "nose up, nose down" angles do you anticipate?

Couple of weeks ago I got onto an incline so steep that I couldn't back down off of it because my rear bumper was impeding my return to terra firma... Maybe 50 to 55 degrees? It was too steep and the earth was wet from a previous rainfall. I'd gone up it before when the ground was dry and the foliage gave me traction... Got stuck...

At 55 degrees my main concern would be if I had packed additional underwear. :)

this is only a guess and sort of a question, would the large oil capacity be a factor? i mean if it was not designed to be driven off road the oil capacity could be safely less.

That's a good point. I guess the only way to know would be to take off an oil pan, fill it with the listed capacity of oil, and then see how full it is. I'm guessing, but I think because of the shape of it, and (your point) how much oil's in the pan, a person would have to really put the machine in a very extreme position for the suction tube to not be submerged...

The oil pick up is fairly close to the bottom of the pan , I have attached a pic with the oil pick up and sump side by side to show the height.

Excellent photo. You're right, that tube is real close to that pan bottom...
