hey folks just wondering if anyone knows difference's if any between the Toyota 13BT (85-89?) orange motor and the (89-91?) blue (LASRE ?) motor -cheers waz

Another nugget helpful or not...
I rebuilt my 88 BJ74, 13BT and the cam bearings I had to get from Toyota 3 times. The correct sizing was for a 14bt :meh: No Toyota part numbers worked, had to cross-reference taiho bearings dig a lot.
so...no guarantees with Toyota.

The term Lazre motors were originally the 1HZ and 1HD T , but marketing dropped the name early on. Maybe it was a term they used for all the newer style diesels that had the vacuum pump and power steering built into the front of the engine?
Someone sent me a copy of the original Lazre pamphlet, wish I could find it.

thanks guys ! its all adds up with stayalerts link that there is a few unseen variants thru the 13bt run just to complicate things when maintaining/rebuilding -typical japo's lol ! - upside is its been a great little donk for 25yrs in my bj40 cheers

13B-T/2L-TE/1PZ/3Bii engines were in the LASRE program as well.

It’s mostly all in Japanese and in Japan. I bought a ton of catalogs, brochures etc out of Japan and the LASRE program is better spelled out for JDM.

I don’t have them anymore as they have all been donated to the LC museum.
