A crap load these motors are heavy

Well thanks for that helpfully info that is what I told the shiper. But they want real numbers not a heavy load. Tryed looking it up. But can't find. So that is why iam asking here. Diesel people. Also looking for a shiper over there. That someone has delt with before. Or may be just pass on this. If it were down the street. Could get picked up. But half way around the world. Is becoming. A problem just for a rare find with low miles. 1 Owner.

I would tell them 1000lbs I doubt it is over that ,shipping could prove difficult since it will have to ship crated most guys load up shipping containers for shipping long distance to cut cost by air would be a huge cost

The 1HDT weighs approximately 750 pounds and is a better all around engine. The 12HT is more of a highway engine and doesn't like to be off roaded.

Depends if flywheel and other parts are present, such as starter, alternator etc.

Right around 650 - 700 would be my best estimate.

Not my favorite off-road engine, but wonderful on the highway.

thanks

Not the young man i was,the old body can't take the jaring or hard hits, but i can still show off,out there, but want to do some cruiseing in style/on my volvo 303 portal axles, got a low mile 12ht-turbo comming in by sea-train from australia in about 50 days, just in time for a winter project.then i will do what stone did to his 91 fj80. was looking for 1 here everyone wants a both arms and a leg,it is $2,500 US, $1,050 to ship with a 150,ooo km 1 owner,so i'll take a chance, better than the 7 to 9 k i could only find here.jim

Wow! That's an awesome price! I think if I was looking for a diesel engine to transplant into an 80 or a 60 I'd go with a cummins as the prices for the 1HDT and 12HTs are super high, like you said. But for the price YOUR paying you can't go wrong.

I wouldn't trade my 1HDT for a cummins though. The Toyota diesels are much more refined than similar era north amercian clackity clackity clackity diesels.

all this time all i hear is great things about the 12ht-t so look around the world,so how is the 1hdt better and will it drop in to my rig,any pictures,is it a inline 6 -turbo.jim

The 12H-T is smaller and has a slight fuel efficiency edge and mechanically simpler. It is also less powerful, rarer (86-90), noiser, and in my experience of driving a few, has a touchy throttle. The 1HD-T enjoys a production run at least well into the 2000s (from 1990) and has a nice smooth rumble. They are both inline 6 turbo from the factory. Neither will "drop in" but both will fit and work well. The HD-T has an overhead cam (valves use spacers) and a rubber timing belt. But in Toyota tradition it is easy to swap as an oil change.

Both are great engines, but I like the newer stuff. Toyota built great diesel motors, too bad a lot of North America was left out.

Lots of Cummins 80s for sale in the last year. Can't understand why that may be.

A marine version of the 1HDT is still in production. I was talking to a mechanic today who owns one.
