I hated fb and avoided it for years, but fb marketplace has replaced what we use to have called the trading post newspaper. It had all sorts of bargains of anything, but ebay bought gumtree so both are now geared to generic chinese rubbish, It is great mud has market for the U.S. but it does not suit folks anywhere else. So fb marketplace is good for selling and buying cruiser parts, here.
So happens to me, fb is a good platform for local mechanics to share some knowledge and advertise themselves. Jh hilux, a diesel specialist, explains his process on there too, better than this example. Rare to hear diesel specialist go into what they do..
there is a lot of annoying algorithm crap too and mindless distractions, time wasters and silly things which you watch like a zombie, like yoga clips. Brave new world called it 'soma', opiate for the masses, keep them distracted so they don't think. The film 'social network' is a good insight how they suck you in, 'you' are the actual product being traded.

I can well imagine that the nz market is so small you virtually all know each other! I believe U.S market is 400 x bigger than Oz. Here I have searches like 'free landcruiser' ..! but rarely something comes up but I picked up a free stainless urinal the other day, just the sheet metal was well worth it. Forest gump life is like a box of chocolates, never know what you're going to get.
