I've been looking for a 100% wool blanket to cut up and make an Anorak. Coleman's surplus annoyingly has all kinds of cool European military surplus blankets listed on their site but they are perpetually out of stock. Googleing I stumbled on this:

100% Pure Merino Wool Blanket (Green)

Claimed 100% Merino wool (don't know about the Merino but it is definitely 100% wool), 61 X 79 inches and 500g/m^2 so about 3.6 pounds. Made in Poland. Available in green, brown and camo. $40 shipped to my door.

It's going to be a shame to cut it up but it will make a great Anorak.

Ebay generally has many Hunson's Bay blankets.

No unfortunately. It's been way unseasonably warm here (+7/8 C when really it should be well below zero) and so that means:

- No need for the anorak and
- It's well warm enough to be out in the garage working on Toyotas.

I will tell you that blanket is crazy warm just using it on the couch.

I'll post up the finished product once old man winter drives me inside.

Cool. I made similar with a heavy wool bland as a teen. Was the best jacket ever.
Shrank it and ruined it the first time I washed it.

It's going to be pushing 40°c here today, so enjoy your 8°

i would definitely recommend looking at the @AdventureToolCompany wool blanket. I have one and it is awesome. Used it this weekend camping. Not to mention they are a great family owned business
