Hey all,

I haven't been driving my LC much since moving to Texas pretty much just been using it for trips to CO & NM every couple months. I noticed when I started it up the other day a lot of the gauges weren't working. Found a whole squirrel nest burrowed up around the main wire harness trunk along with two baby squirrels!

They chewed up the main trunk of wires pretty good. I haven't worked on the electrical systems much, will this be a full harness replacement or can it be repaired? Does anyone have a good spot to get a harness replacement or a video or thread on the process?

Looking to get 'er back in good shape for a month-long CO trip this June, Thanks!

Hey all,

I ordered the replacement harness (Main Engine No.2) from Cruiserparts.net. Once I removed the master brake cylinder, charcoal canister and driver side dash & components and loosened up the brake lines, I was able to get the old harness out and route the new one through the driver's side firewall to the fusebox and all the goodies on the driver's side and up around the brake lines over to the passenger side of the engine.

I've got about 6 more connectors that I need to run back into the passenger side dash area, but when I took the glovebox out, I ran into a whole bunch of stuff again... any suggestions on how to dismantle all the components on this side without completely tearing out the dash to run my remaining connectors back into where they need to go?

Hey all,

Still trying to route these remaining wires back from the engine bay (Engine Room No. 2) through the firewall to the upper dash on the passenger side. I am having extreme difficulty landing the remaining connectors (IW1 & IW2 and an unknown black connector). Seats, dash center and center console are out now.

These connectors are still buried somewhere above and behind the blower unit and R/H Cowl Junction Box...

It's looking like I'll need to continue gutting the truck and pull the reinforcing bars and blower/cooling unit combo and/or R/H Cowl J/B unit. Other options include cutting directly through the body to reach these connectors, or splicing them.. but I'm already pretty deep in.

Any tips? Still going to need to get 'er running and rebuilt now for a monthlong Colorado Trip this June... We've got tornados, thunderstorms and hail in the forecast til Sunday so I'll hit the ground running then.
