Yes I'm still alive and retired. Want to share some good information with you regarding replacement of windshields in 100 series. Never needed one before and had read about many issues regarding poor installation by inexperienced persons.

Windshield took a big rock dead center and ruined it. It was sand pitted real bad anyway. Called several places and finally got a lady on the phone that new what she was talking about when it comes to Land Cruisers and decided to give them a try.

They will not come to you for this one and a visit to their shop for about two and one half hours is required.

Made an appointment for 8:30 A.M. today and was out just before 11:00 A.M.

The shop manager, J.D. with 30 years experience, was extremely helpful and we discussed issues related to the vehicle. He had installed four windshields in 100's in the last few weeks, in addition to many in the past, and really new his business. Showed me some rust under the edges and ground it down and applied two coats of protective coating to retard future growth.

The job was completed using bronze tint PPG glass and all new rivets, adhesive and seals. It was done right and looks great.

If you decide to use them request J.D. only.

Total Cost was $249.90. The best price on uninstalled OEM glass found was about $650.00 delivered to Bham.

The company is:

AUTO GLASS NOW
3516 3rd Avenue So.
Birmingham, AL 35233
205-324-2224

I'm sure there are others but this place will be hard to beat. I didn't get anything for making this post if you are wondering. Wanted to add some helpful information.

Good to know John. Thanks

Just FYI - Talked to these guys today. JD is no longer with them, retired. However, spoke with Cliff, very knowledgable, certainly seemed to know his stuff. They are 3 1/2 hrs. away however I'm taking the baby up there next Mon. Will report back....

Sorry to hear he retired. Maybe taught others how to install correctly. Let us know how it works out and feel sure you will be pleased. A lot of people would hope it's very successful as windshield experts are hard to find. I suspect it will be just fine and need one replaced for my grandsons 100 again. Rock rash. WIll go there for the replacement.
Have an 80 and will take it there very soon.

Would like to hear how this went. I've got to have a new one now.

Lets see if the glass company will respond to our questions. WIll contact them soon to see if they are interested.

May 2025,

Took my Hundred here.
They refused to use rivets. I should have called it there but I’ve had self tapping screws already without issue so I figured these guys might be able to do it right.

Nope…

Windshield leaks in about 5 places and messed up the trim.

I made an appointment for them to fix it.
Waited 45 min for them to tell me that I have to by a new windshield and all new trim before they will try to fix it. I have only had the windshield in about a week.

So far they are refusing to stand by their work.
