Hi folks,
I'm trying to bottom out an issue, at least I think it's an issue!

The upper bootlid closes fine, but the panel gap feels too big, especially where it follows the edge of the light down. I've not been close enough to another to check this for a comparison, so it would be good to understand if this gap is normal and if it's not, if there are any offending areas that could cause this? The drivers side (passenger side in North America) looks worse, no signs of crash damage etc. The pics don't really do the gap justice!

I've changed the upper bootlid seal, and the one that goes around the entire boot perimeter for another reason, however this also didn't make any difference. There is a rubber 'stop' on each side of the boot surround which this closes against, I did wonder if these could cause the issue but there doesn't look to be any adjustment and they also don't look in bad condition.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Ps. please excuse the dirt, the weather is pretty crap here currently and I've not had chance to wash it yet!

I'll have to double check but I feel like all of mine have kind of been like that. If you push on it, it kind of squishes against the seal.

Make sure the lower tailgate is fully latched on both sides. Sometimes mine doesn't fully seat in the latch on one side.

Thanks! Both sides of lower tailgate are latching correctly, and when you press the top tailgate in there is some movement as you suggest. I guess it just looks quite a big gap which would be easy to get something into if you were looking to break into it.

If you can have a look at yours when convenient that would be great!

Thanks

I think that’s normal here is mine

Thank you! If you happen to be near it with your phone then another pic from the same angle (lower) I took my pics from would be awesome!

Thanks

Thank you!

Definitely looks like my gap is bigger unless I'm mistaken

You can adjust the striker plate on the top of the bottom hatch. Super easy. First align lower hatch and strike plates then align the upper and lower. Done in ten mins.
