100 Series tyre sizes

Hi guys, I'm looking at changing my tyre size and possibly going to 16 inch rims.
Does anyone run 285/75r16 or 285/70r17?

Or what sizes do people use?

How does the bigger tyre effect the power and fuel economy

285/75/16's fit, and the spare will barely fit. Fuel economy is already in the toilet, so I wouldn't worry about that. The only noticeable difference is acceleration from stop takes longer and the speedo is off 3-5mph within a normal range of speeds. The other thing to consider is a lot of the tires in that size are E rated which makes for a stiffer ride.... There are come D rated ones out there though.

I just installed 285/75r16s Duratracs and they are E rated. It rides a little stiffer, but my wife loves it and she a little tiny English major. I got 60K out of the last set of Duratracs in a little smaller size.
