100 series regearing option

I may be mistaken, but it should be the same as the reverse rotation 80 series front.
Actually, the opposite is true. The front would slide right in but the rear is different. Apparently Toyota beefed up the rear pinion as it has one more spline (32 to 33, if I recall correctly) and the pinion bearings are larger. The source of this info is 4 Wheel Supply in Phoenix Arizona as they tried to regear a friend of mine's 100. It was a very disappointing day as I need 4:88 bad.
Let's not give up, though. Need to campaign the suppliers!!!

Could an older 80 series diff be retrofitted? Just like swapping the mini truck V6 diff into the 4 cylinder axle, drops right in.

That might be an option I need to look at. It migt have the same bolt pattern on the 3rd member. It just going jakc the cost a lot more since most junk and wanted to sell the whole rear axle instead of just the 3rd member and you still need to get the lower gear.
