Hello all,

I am somewhat new to the Land Cruiser world so I have a few questions.
I have a 99 Land Cruiser with 368,000 miles, all stock.
Recently, I have had a couple minor mechanical problems and it has me somewhat concerned. What is the average life of a cruiser if well maintained? My father owned it before me, and has always put Mobil 1 synthetic in it for it's entire life, and has done some other mechanical maintenance throughout the past couple years. Overall, it has had a good track record mechanically. The only thing that somewhat concerns me is the huge amount of miles. I would eventually like to upgrade it (small lift, tires) so I would like to know if it is even worth that.

Anybody that can tell me anything to help me out would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

what sort of mechanical problems are popping up now? as long as PM gets done when it's supposed to, these are solidly built Cruisers and based on what I've read here on the forums you should be good for another 100k at least.

That's good to hear, the only problems I have had so far is the alternator going out twice in the past 2 months (I think the first one was just bad), and a water pump go out. My dad replaced the fuel pump and a few other things I am not sure of. I am glad to hear that these are such reliable vehicles, so that kind of eases the previous worries I had. Thanks!

Like anything else, they will continue to run if you keep repairing. The highest mileage 100 I've seen was over 400k and it really wasn't in that bad of shape considering the miles. Well cared for, I think the engine is good for at least 500k miles without major repair.
