Hi all,

I started this account a couple of months back when I was looking for a Toyota Land cruiser, however, there are not that many LC in Canda so I needed to go to the next best thing an LX.

Initially, I was looking for an LX450 because for me the 80 series is the best looking of them all (personal opinion) however since I was going to daily drive it and long trips and only milled Overlanding a more comfortable ride and realistically in better shape (rust wise after all I'm in Canada) the 80 was not a wise decision.

So I searched for an LX470 and I wanted the >2003 because not only it looks a little better inside but especially because it has a 5-speed gearbox, I really aimed for a 2006-2007 but those are near to impossible to get. I ended up buying a long dream vehicle for me for years. I bought a 2005 LX470 with 300.000 km (yes a bit high but it's a Toyota so I'm not worried), it ticked almost all the boxes I had except the "rust free" it's not a rust bucket but it's not rust-free either.

Bought it in July in Manitoba however it was in Alberta for 10 or 11 years. I have been fixing it (rust a few other things it had to fix) and doing major maintenance (from all the fluids to timing belt etc...) now that the maintenance and repairs list is completed the next step is going to be tires, I've 285/60 R18's and my plan is to put 33x12.5 R18 BF KO 2 (all terrain), I still didn't decide if I want to go that way or change rims to 17's or 16's (if 16's is possible I read some threads saying that it's possible, some saying it's not possible, so I'm not sure at this point) and in a near future change the front bumper to a metal one with a winch and some rock sliders. Any input is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are not many people around NB that does Overlanding but I guess I'll find someone that will be able to guide me through some trails around here in the beginning.

Here the day I bought it, still with Manitoba plates.

Good looking LX! I just want to correct you on one thing, your opinion is wrong because the 60 is the best looking one. It’s okay, we all make mistakes. Looking forward to your build!

And 16” rims are possible from any year 100 series with no modifications required. Just find some stock wheels for sale.

that 60 or 80 is just opinions. I do like all of them (except the iron pig) but the one that floats my boat is the 80 :)
If it wasn't the taste what would happen to the yellow :rofl:

Any 16 will fit or just the stock ones?
If some aftermarket will do what should I be looking for?

Realistically I would prefer stock ones but the cost for shipping is crazy high and finding a set near is close to impossible, so if I go for the 16's I will be looking for aftermarket instead.

Well stock ones fit no modification. SCS makes 16” wheels with no center caps that fit and are the best looking after market wheels in my opinion.

The 5x150 option. Search the forums, lots of good info.

So not all aftermarket rims will fit.... :frown:
I do like those F5 but, I don't know if they're the best looking ones, still undecided what to do about the rims/tires.
I know I want 33 and Bf's all-terrain KO2 unsure of all the rest.

Check out the tundra wheel thread. The offset and number of lugs is unusual for the LC and the front hub is large.

Hey- very late reply but thought I’d at least say hello to another NB LX owner (Rothesay). Pretty rare to see another LX, let alone around here. I know of a 2005 LC in my town but that may be the only other 100 series I’ve seen.

Also I believer the first couple years came w 16” rims stock so they definitely fit. I have the originals for my 99 but use a set of 17s from a later year Land Cruiser. All the best.

Hi JC.
Yes they are not common at all around here, in Fredericton, there are 2 LX's and mine (as far as I know).
I tried to get to know people to go for overlanding trips around here but it's kind of hard, somehow the Jeep owners like Jeep people and the LX's owners, well they're LX's so not made to go offroad I guess.

Anyway, with the pandemic I decided to wait on the upgrades and didn't do anything so far, so mine is still bone stock, I still can tackle some trails for sure but I don't want to do it by myself, so if one day you feel like you want to go for a quick spin somewhere close to both of us, let me know.
