@Cosmo Kramer what are these top lights? I think mine have gone out but i don't know what they are actually for lol. Are they supposed to be on at night? I think they are just "tail lights"? Attached an image.

@Cosmo Kramer Thanks for this writeup. I'm in process today and I just replaced the relay with the LED version. I haven't switched out my front halogen blinkers, but my rears are now LED. The left is all good and blinks at the correct cadence, but when my lights are on, the right blinker AND the tail lights blink.

How can this be? I haven't spliced anything or changed any wiring. Just plugged in new LEDs all around except for the front blinkers. The left side works fine with the lights on.

Any ideas anyone???

i'm now hearing another clicking sound besides the relay which sounds like it's coming from under the shifter it's a louder clicking sound. I only hear it on the right blinker the one that's malfunctioning when I go left that other clicking sound goes away, and I only hear the relay. Something under there be shorted out?

Thanks for the write up and pics! I replaced all of the front lights and just did the relay - like that way better than trying to attach resistors to 25 year old wiring, particularly since the front blinkers have 3 wires and I couldn’t determine which 2 to connect to.

With the help of the pics, I was able to locate the resistor without taking off the plastic beneath the steering wheel and metal plate behind it. Removing those pieces was more than I wanted to tackle tonight. While it was tight, I was able get the bolt off and finagle the relay down to where I could disconnect it. Took a little while, but was eventually able to find a path. When reinstalling, I didn’t bother trying to get the bracket attached to the relay, but rather ran a zip-tie through the slot on the relay for the bracket and then ran the zip-tie through the bolt hole before cinching it down.

Relay is the tan box- the metal piece it was bolted to is basically above the brake pedal. Looking at the pic, I’m wondering now if the two bolts you see can be easily removed and allow that metal bracket to move a little and provide an easier path.

Rear lights are up next - already replace reverse a year or so ago.
