I have a couple of ideas I wanted to bounce off the board.

1. Making the rear seats into 2 captain chairs to allow easy access to the third row. The seat is already split 60/40 so you could leave the 40 piece and modify the 60 piece. Also, add some armrests like the front seats.

2. The carpet on the rear tailgate. This carpet needs to be replaced with something more durable, like cordura or metal or something.

3. The back of the rear seats (the ones mentioned above being turned into captain chairs) needs to be mich more durable. Maybe cordura.

4. Adding rear heating elements to the rear outboard seats (the ones being made into captain chairs) and using factory seat heat switches mounted on the back of the center console.

Has anyone out there attempted any of these ideas? Any other ideas, exterior or interior? Please provide pictures if you have them.

Thanks,

Sounds like a really cool idea. I removed my 3rd row seats, so I haven't even thought about your conversion.

I know the carpet on the rear just pops off, I had to do it to change out the tail light bulbs. As for a durable replacement, what about putting rhino lining, colored to match your plastics in the rear, over a template that snaps in like the carpet does.

What if you replaced the second row with 2 more front seats, armrests and heating elements being already included? Seat height may be an issue with that idea however maybe you could come up with an adaptation of that. I don't know how hard it would be to lop off the the edge of the 60% seat versus just chunking it and getting another 40% seat either.

I'm working on some in the box ideas myself at the moment. I'm trying to fabricate a custom cargo box for my surveying equipment to fit in the rear that will include a back to guard the back of the seats from equipment stabbing/cutting it. I figure on using some MDF at the moment and have yet to devise a quick removal system for it either but am currently thinking heavyweight low-profile casters.
