I'm still a little new to the 100 series, and the first thing I'm wanting to do is upgrade the shocks and springs. Heavy duty, for bumpers and such, that will be added later on. Also, what would be best for a small lift later on? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Conway, Ar. I've leveled the front, with the torsion bars, put bedliner on the fenders and trim. I'm looking to do some moderate wheeling, and lots of backwoods camping, if this helps!

If you want it to have a level stance, I would go with the Old Man Emu 1.5" heavy duty rear springs. I went with the 2.5" heavy duty rear springs (with a Slee rear bumper) and the truck has a noticeable rake to it. I'm hoping that once I add the swing gates it will ride a little lower in the back. Just my opinion. The good thing is there are a lot of different set-ups on here so you can get an idea of what you want with a few searches. Good luck and welcome aboard.

You don't want to go heavy with bumpers to be added later. By the time you get the bumpers on, all your teeth may have rattled out! OME 865s will give you 1.5" and stay nice and smooth. Get heavy springs when you add that rear bumper, but not before.

OME 865. Where would you recommend purchasing them at?

If you are planning on drawers and a rear Slee bumper, I would recommend the Slee Heavy Springs.

y'all are nuts... For a stock truck, throw in some 30mm rear spacers, crank the OEM T-bars to match, and call it good. Like paflytyer said, when you finally get bumpers, THEN go put some heavy duty springs on it. If you're really itching to throw some cash down, get the 865's. But why? If you're loading it up, throw in some air bags in the rear coils for the 1 time/month that you load it down. Best of both worlds.

Why'd you switch? I have 860s and a set of 863s in the garage. I'm debating between 869s w/ airbags, 860s + spacers, 863s or SLee HDs.

I traded new for new b/c I thought I wanted the extra height the 863's provide. Once the 863's were installed, I had to lift the front a bit in order to achieve the proper rake. This caused issues with the A-arms, tracking, wandering, etc. Slee does his homework and he created the Slee Heavies for a reason. They provide enough lift to get the job done while heavily loaded and they will have less negative effects on your front end geometry (as we all know that the front gets exponentially worse the higher you raise it).

Thanks again pFran !! , I really like the way Slee's springs feel when loaded and pulling a trailer.

Airbags or Slee heavies?

I've been running 860s and Old man emu front torsion bars. I've noticed that my truck is significantly lower than more stock trucks running the same lift.

But I'm carrying a lot of extra weigh all the timet:

100lbs LabRak w/ a bunch of mounts
120lbs WKOR sliders
45lbs Optima 34 dual battery
75lbs VR10000 Winch
140lbs Slee Blueberry Bumper
35lbs 48" hi-lift
45lbs ARB 8' Awning

Total: 560lbs of sprung weight over stock. Loaded up with extra gas, water, fridge and food for a trip and I'm sure it's easliy 200 more than that. Plus 360lbs of dog and humans.

I don't have drawers yet but they're in the works and I carry a bin with tools and a bin with recovery gear all the time.

Airbags would be nice for being able to get the proper rake no matter how loaded up. But there isn't much of a cost benefit since I'd sell the 860s to help buy the Slee Heavies anyway.

I have another question, if I put only the 865 springs will that be too much a stretch for the stock shocks? I'd love to just get them on there, then next purchase some new shocks.
