Hi there guys.
Im new to all this forum stuff so forgive me if this has already been answered elsewhere.

Heres my problem my 100 series cruiser wont switch hazards on unless i short the wire at the rear of the ac control unit to ground. Then works great!. Ive tried every thing heres what i know.
The hazard switch itself works switching the ground supplied to the opposite contact. This is then basically meant to continue back out of the PCB to the white whire on the first plug. Does not!. Ive even traced it through out the pcb but it gets lost at a resistor..
Ive bought a used control unit and tried it no go. Actually worse cos it wouldnt switch the fan motor on even.
Other things that arent working on both the units are.
-no response or light on ac switch
- recirc or fresh switch wont change
- defrost switch wont work. Everything else is aok.
Can somebody pleeeeeaaassee help cos i need them working for rego!!!

We need some additional information. What year and is there navigation? Is the center differential lock, power antenna and rear ac light working? Have you checked all of your fuses?

Hi sorry. Its a 1998 gxl. So its just the basic. Antenna, ac controls, defrost. And yes have checked the fuses more than once. Thanks

On the FSM I have for the 2002 uzj 100 the hazard and ac both share a common ground at junction connector j7.

Your Hazard light switch and your AC amplifier both ground through the J7 junction block via Terminal 22 on the D connector. The AC amplifier provides the signal to the blower motor. The D connector is C9 and I have attached a photo. Terminal 22 is where the white/black ground wire is. I would disconnect the D / C9 connector from the back of the unit. Check continuity to ground on the #22 terminal. This would be a starting point. The problem is it also shows to be a ground to your power antenna and you say this is working?

Do you have an aftermarket bumper w/ lights?

When I put the Kaymar on my 100 and connected the bumper lights to the harness, emergency flashers quit.

Apparently our vehicles are very touchy on the voltage-side. When I disconnected the bumper lights, flashers worked again.

Hey guys.Wow thanks for all the help! ill try post some pictures of whats happening soon
TxSunDevil-
I see what your saying re earth point and that junction and ill check it out. Although i have already tested pin 22 on c9 for earth and it was great. I have even joined pin 22 and pin 3 as shown in diagram. And hazards work. But im still left with the other issues. Which are, ac switch wont work, recirc or fresh air wont work, antenna wont work(could be antenna motor?), defrost wont work. What does work is the 4wd switch, clock counts time, all ac control dials work. So any ideas it almost seems like a missing power circuit. Or worse im concerned the BCM may be stuffed. :(. What are the chances ive got 2 bad computers(ac control centre thingy)?? They are both 2nd hand. Note also on each ac control thingy i get slightly different problems. Like on the one i bought its actually worse in that it wont run the fan and it wont switch 4wd!!
Also worth noting my 100 serires is the HZJ105P model.
PDPerry-
Thanks for that tip mate. First thing i did though was disconnect all extra lights. As i do have a rear bar and a front.
Cheers

When did all of this stop working? Did it ever work fine?
There show to be 4 different power sources for the ac system

No it has never worked i bought the car as it is recently. which of those wires shown powers the AC ECU. I could then test them induvidually.

Ok that is good to know that it has never worked. Have you verified the part numbers of the controller are the correct for your application? Unfortunately the diagram only shows the 4 separate power wires going into the AC Amplifier/ Center ECU and they do not specify what they power. They are connected to terminals IG, IG+, +B, +B, ACC, ACC. There are 3 fuses that feed that and they are all split for a total of 6 hot wires plugging into the module.

Here is a link another user posted. It has the wiring diagrams.

Ok Yes ive verified both controllers. They are for this model. Ill check the J7 junction and find all the power wired as long as they are all live or hot as you say. Do you think i may have 2 dodgy controllers??

I am guessing by "dodgy" you mean they are bad? I think the chance of two bad controllers are pretty slim but I am not a professional. I would lean towards a bad/ missing ground or power supply. I would disconnect all the terminals and verify either 12v or ground depending on what the wiring diagram shows.

Sorry yes thats what i mean. Must be the Aussie slang coming out. Ive just browsed that link. it looks to be very helpful. Ill look into it and get back to you. Thanks again.

Ok guys so i've finally worked this one out! I tested every wire imaginable in the car and still no progress. :(
Called the supplier of the controller. And they said bring it back and they'll give me another. So i eventually got there got another. Plugged it in and what do you know. It all worked. Some how i managed to get 2 bad controllers.
Thanks for all your help again. Car is now registered and ready to tear up some mud!
Although i have now found that my clutch seems to be slipping :(. Yet another problem.
