it's time for new exhaust manifolds on my '01 Cruiser, has anyone used the SKP manifolds(Rock Auto), Dorman (O'Reilly's), or Napa OE manifold to replace the stock manifolds? My cruiser has 218k and runs like a champ, and before I spend $800 on Toyota OE, I thought I'd ask if anyone had anything good to say about the less expensive replacements. Any thoughts?

My buddy had a 4.7 tundra of the era. Used dorman he was happy had it 3 years and 60k after that before selling. We got into the conversation because my 01 cruiser needs them too. Curious to see what other cruiser people say.

If it were me, I would install Doug Thorley headers. The cost is inline with OEM and you should end up with more power and better fuel efficiency. This is a mod I want to do, but can't justify the cost because my manifolds are good.

I wouldn't think twice about reman exhaust manifolds, but if I was doing it myself I'd definitely do headers instead because it's an expensive job.

pardon..not reman, but aftermarket.

Dont make the mistake of buying the original designed manifolds. Spend the 700 on the headers and never worrry again. Get more power, low end torque feel and feel comfort in knowing you wont have to do it again in another 100k. But use OEM gaskets, studs and nuts.

Has anyone used the Manzo Headers Toyota Tundra/Sequoia (2000-2001-2002-2003-2004) TP-115 as a replacement?

Just looked those up. The price is certainly right on them. The tick on my driver side is getting worse and needs to be addressed sooner or later. I don't have the $$$ for a set of DT headers, it a nice reliable, affordable aftermarket solution would be awesome.

Has anyone put a DT equipped truck on a dyno? I'd be very curious to what the gains really are. $700 is a lot of money for a seat if the pants improvement in performance. (That's not to say there isn't an improvement, I'm a little ignorant on the subject.)

Edit to add: do all 2UZ variants use the same header? (i.e. LC, GX, Tundra, etc.)

Price is too good to be true, and they have 3 reviews on Amazon, all one star. Complaints of poor fitment and leaks.

If these weren't such a PITA to replace it might be worth giving them a try. In the case of the 100, doing it right and doing it once seems the best choice. Too bad it's not affordable, but what is on these, except for OEM shocks.

Google it, guys on the tundra forums are reporting leaks at the welds worse than the problem cracks they replaced.

I bought them and sent them back immediately. Not even worth taking photos. They looked like they were the right shape and would have fit with some massaging. It reminded me of the typical eBay shiny cheap chinese manifolds, very thin crappy stainless pipe, booger welds, bad port matching, etc.

Looks like I'll be pulling mine and welding it one of these days. The the price of the Napa and similar options cost almost as much the the DT headers.

SKP cheap bois from RockAuto have been working just fine pour moi 😎

That's very good to know! At their price welding isn't worth the effort.
Heck, the crack may be worse than you think... In my case, what I thought was a simple cracked OEM manifold turned out to be a 1/2” x 1/2” chunk missing off the front of the manifold at the #1 cylinder. Was full tractor mode. I didn’t know how severe it was until I got the manifold out.

But the SKP manifolds have worked just fine. No fitment issues and nice flat face that new OEM gaskets worked perfectly with.

I used cheap Dormans on my Tundra when the manifold cracked. I only lasted about 2 years until tick was back. I switch to JBAs and never had another problem. Should have opted for the better header first as it was a pita to replace them.

I wanted to restart this older thread to see how everyone's aftermarket manifolds are going. I've had a tick on the passenger side and I think I am finally bored enough to take a stab at it. Debating between OEM or something like the Dorman or SKP ones since I'm in the land of emission testing.

I just installed new OEM ones. you can buy them from McGeorge Toyota for pretty cheap and they have them in stock.

Its a pain of a job to do and the OEMs lasted on mine for over 300K miles. Also I went OEM because I really don't want any droning noise with the DT.

Its amazing how quiet my engine sounds now with new manifolds.

I went the DT route, and other than the ticking from the leak going away, I noticed no difference in sound at all really. Maybe a bit when at WOT, but I wouldn't worry about droning.
