My UK spec factory battery question. Looking for input.
My 100 has factory twin left/right battery setup and 3 years ago I had new batteries installed.
The one on the drivers side will take charge, however when I put the Ctek on the left hand (passenger side) battery it looks to all intents and purposes, dead. Won't start to charge and reads empty. I tried recovery mode but nothing happens
I understood that charge would apply to both batteries - charging one charges both as the alternator is only attached to the LH battery
With charger disconnected, the RH battery reads 11.8 volts and the left also 11.8 v or thereabouts.
My assumption - before I go out to buy 2 new ones, is that the LH one is indeed dead, the RH one is the only working one and when I see 11.8v on the dead LH battery I'm actually seeing the charge in the other battery minus some cable resistance. And that the reason batteries are only reading 11.8 v and not 12.8 or similar is that one battery is dead and the other is being discharged by the dead one.
Does this sound right?
