So I had to panic brake last night to avoid taking the bumper off of some guy with a death wish trying to turn right off of Valleydale onto 280.

Turns out, pedal on the floor doesn't come anywhere close to engaging ABS, which was a bit frightening at the time.

I'd like to replace the fluid and do pads and rotors. Any ideas how difficult it is? I know on the tacoma bleeding the brakes was a bit weird because of the brake controller / valves for ATRAC, and if you got it too low it involved a trip to the dealership to have the valves reset via the computer.

I was looking at the powerstop stuff from autoanything.com, which is ~$490 for the 4 wheel kit. I'm not sure what all is available, just had seen those around on the interwebs forums and the like.

Also, I've never done pads and rotor replacement. Anyone that could give me a hand? I'll buy (good) beer and provide lunch.

I've done rear rotors and pads all around on the 80. Don't know how much good that'll do you though.

Lots of good stuff on the 100 forum on this. Even some good YouTube videos by lshobie. I've done pads but not rotors. Front rotors are more involved and require a brass drift and a 54mm socket. Pads I can help with easy. Also look at same parts on eBay and amazon as folks on the 100 forum found good deals there.

I have a power bleeder you can borrow; it makes a flush pretty easy.
(I'm out of town til Sunday though)

DANG! I'm out of town until NEXT Sunday! I gots a 54mm socket too... got errythang you'd need in my black pelican case.

I wouldn't invest too much into "advanced" expensive parts. I would used some OEM pads and OEM rotors. I've found NAPA and Orielly's parts to be pretty damn good too. I'm using some Orielly pads right now on the Tundra and they stop a loaded trailer with no trailer brakes!
It's ALL about the bleeding. The bleeding is the key to a solid brake pedal.

I'm down for helping if you do it in December!

I've only used oem pads on the 100, that being said I've been putting everlast platinum plus pads on the wife's Burban with good results.

Can I get in on this? My brakes need something corrected.

via mobile app.

I probably have all the tools you need, but Eric M. has them for his brake job right now. I have the 54mm socket, brass drifts, snap ring pliers...

It sounds like we should have a club brake bleeding party at some point. maybe get a 100' roll of fuel hose and extend everyone's diff breathers at the same time.

I like that idea.

Might be a good time to see if anyone else wants reinforced LCAs... If I make the order Ill have to order at least 20' of tube. 5 80s worth...

I'm in..

Did you get a local price on the tube?

Bluetorch didnt reply with a price when I asked if I could order it, only said I had to order 20 feet.

I called a few places in town, including wabfab, they said no one in this area would carry tube that size.

onlinemetals stocks it but shipping is high. If multiple people went in on it it would cut that down though.

What size?

What size?

1.75" outer diameter 0.1875"(or .188)

Edit. 1.75" outer diameter 0.1875"(or .188) wall thickness dom tubing

Apparently I couldn't copy and paste yesterday.

I'll try and get a price Monday.

I can get the tubing, I have a pile of 1.75 x .125, but I don't normally use .188 for anything. How much do you want?

If you are going to order individual pieces for you own projects, Speedy Metals isn't pretty reasonable:

I will be in the shop this afternoon working on my Cruiser and can verify the measurements on the lower control arms.

As for the brakes. I use nothing bu HAWK LTS pads on these trucks. They work better than the stock Toyota pads and the price is pretty reasonable. I would do front and rear pads, check the hoses and replace if necessary. My truck stops great for a vehicle its size. I know my Buddy has a 97 that we will be doing in the next couple of weeks. His truck feels terrible, brakes are awful.

When I did mine, I did rotors, caliper rebuilds, new longer hoses all around, rebuilt the LSPV and ATE Super Blue HD brake frluid. Truck brakes nicely.

I'm done with the tools so now it's time to return them. I installed new rotors (x4), new pads (x4), brake lines (x2), and wheel bearings (x2). Time to post a picture of the new rubber.

I ordered a CV Boot kit (Apparently the only way to get the grease, but they're cheap and I'll have some spares) and brake pads all around from Sam over in GA. I downloaded a rar file of the FSM. Now I need to get some clamps from p-fran and I'll be ready to go for a work day.

I have clamps from Paul I need to put on. Also have the stop tech PDF. Spressoman linked a while back for front job don't know if link works but if you need it I'm available.
